I'll put some money on few games just for fun. Makes games interesting if you don't support either of the teams. Just open some online bookie and offers for any kind of bets for the WC will greet you. ;)
Six, uruguay v France 1-1?

It wouldn't surprise me at all.
I would expect either a draw or a win to France with a 1 goal difference at most.

This game has draw written all over it. However, Urugary could actully edge it if Forlan and Suarez get into the match.

I'm not sure IF it's still the case but I think a while ago Bodog used to accept players from America :rtfm:
I have no idea IF that's still so, in which case the above is as much use as Gizmo explaining "how" he wins..... :blush2:

Everybody says that (especially in media), maybe it's some trick. I think France can make it to the 1/4 finals. Their group is relatively easy. Same with their potential 1/8 finals opponents (Greece, Korea, Nigeria or Argentina -- but both ARG and FRA will try to avoid facing each other). So basically France could be the big surprise...

This has nothing to do with the world cup, just a little soccer story from my younger years that I've been dying to tell someone...ANYONE!
So I used to play soccer "football" for many years from the age of 6 into my mid 20's.
This one team I played on the left wing with for three years was outstanding, winning all three premierships, and going one year undefeated.
In the third and final premiership year of that team's existence we played a game late in the season against the bottom placed team of the competition.
Our goalkeeper was not able to attend, so, I being the reserve goaly took his place. The contest was a rout; for almost the entire game our poor opponents had failed to get the ball even past the half way line! The score with 10 minute remaining was 17 to nil.
At this point, bored out of my mind, and to pass the time building a sand castle under the goal posts I ran from the field and questioned the officials as to whether a goalkeeper was legally allowed to leave his goal and join the attacking team. I was told there was no rule that forbade a goalkeeper to advance up the field, so I ran back on and joined my team mates on the field.
Ten minutes later the final whistle blew and we were victorious with a score line of 21 to nil.
For those final 10 minutes my team mates kept calling, "give it to the goaly, give it to the goaly!"
I scored the final four goals wearing the number 1 jersey!... Hahahahaha!... must be some kind of record!
Thanks guys, I just had to tell someone.
LOL, bombus! :D
Your opponents should've been stones and trees?!

Score!
Now let's see how France will do.
Well, It's been a good day! Mainly because I don't have to be N6's b***h!
I had both games today, being under 2. 5 goals.
Next picks are:
Algeria vs Slovenia, under 2. 5.
Netherlands vs Denmark, under 2. 5.
Brazil vs North Korea, over 2. 5.
Much love.

Closer than you thought, though, right? Forlan will win the group for URUGAY. Everyone knows France are a joke side. Domenech is more interested in the positions of the stars than he is in the positions of his players. In fact, he bases his first XI on the entrails of Parisian rats.
Day 2:
South Korea 0-2 Greece
Argentina 2-0 Nigeria
Oh, yes, England...
3-0 win, I won't be holding my breath for Heskey scoring

Soccer is the number 1 sport in the States. No, wait, thats the real football I'm talking about.
Never mind. :-X
Which is more boring, soccer or basketball? They're both grown men running around in their underwear chasing a round ball. They both make about as much sense. At least in football, the goal is to try and kill the guy that has the ball. It has a purpose we can all relate to.

Soccer lags far behind baseball, football, and basketball as the highest paid sport. Its better than hockey, but so is everything. .

The drinking in the Uk has started, after all it IS a Sat**day night !!!
The police have their overtime & shields / batons @ the ready......
England will probably lose on penalties, & no doubt some token German fan will be thrown off a pier...... :nono:
Yep it's the World Cup for sure !!!!!
Yeah, big game tomorrow. I bet on Rooney to shine... in the ET, so:
Germany v England 0:0
Argentina v Mexico 1:0
Germany v England 1:1
Argentina v Mexico 2:1
Very tough to say who will win. I'd say this is not a game you want to bet real money on.
What happened in recent matches is barely relevant in games like this. Both teams are pressured and team psychology (during the game) will be a most important factor imo. My best guess is that the team who will receive the first goal won't likely do much (except perhaps in the last 10 minutes when they don't have much to lose anymore). This is especially true for Germany as the players are less experienced. What happened against Serbia is an example of this, Klose got a red and the team got frustrated, almost instantly took a goal, and couldn't do much to change the score afterwards. On the other hand, England's offense will likely struggle to score. That said, a draw is still probable but based on the above I would say 0-0 is a bit more probable than 1-1.
As for Argentina vs Mexico, all I can think is it will be a higher-scoring game than the other one, and Argentina will win.
Germany 0-2 England
Argentina 2-1 Mexico
Germany v England 2:3
Argentina v Mexico 3:1
Germany v England 3-4
Argentina v Mexico 2-0
Holland 2-0 Slovakia
Brazil 2-1 Chile
Holland v Slovakia 1:0
Bazil v Chile 3:2
Holland v Slovakia 2:0
Brazil v Chile 2:0

Germany is hands down the best team in this world cup. :clapping:
NS
I agree. It was some perfomance by the German team..

Very impressive performance by Germany. The "engine" of their team is Bayern Munich duo Schweinsteiger and Mueller, former suspended for the next game against Spain. My point is, they'll definitely need a bit of luck at some stage to win the cup, i.e Spain today.

It's probably going to be a tougher more exhausting game with less goals against Spain as their defense is more solid, but I still see Germany winning 1-0 or 2-1 even with Müller's absence. A draw is still possible, so I'd just bet that Spain won't win.
Btw, those 2 missed penalties in a row in the Paraguay-Spain game was funny.
Yes, I'm happy with the quarter-finals because the tournament was a bit boring in the early stages.
P.S. It's also interesting to see how some Hollywood celebrities use the World cup to promote their new movies. Kudos to their PR agents! ;D
For those celebs it`s also the parties taking place in conjunction with the games. For them it is a MUST to be there and be seen. :ok:

Schweinsteiger
Absolutely outstanding, player of the tournament easily. You know, the Germans have always underrated him...yet 25, nearly 100 caps? This guy has been awesome..going into the tournament they were tipping him to captain the side. Masterclass in holding midfield. Stupidly, the most in-form player who could have got near him coming off the back of a great season is Cambiasso, yet Maradona didn't even select him. In terms of international form, no one is close to Schweinsteiger right now. Chelsea will be shooting themselves. He was available for them last year for £15m. LOL. Double it now, then add some. Germany to win? Who'd bet against them?
