Looking for more moderators

Steve

At present there are only a few moderators. This is fine provided we maintain a member base of decent people, but to lighten the load we need more. If you are interested, let me know.

The ideal moderator:

* Actually wants the job
* Reasonably active on the forum
* Understands and agrees to the forum terms
* Able to keep personal opinions separate from the job of moderation
* Overall good judgment and person

Nothing about a moderator's behavior needs to change, but they need to be conscious of being neutral in decisions of whether or not to move or delete material, ban members etc.

Steve

Davey-Jones is now a moderator. Davey, the rules I feel are fair and I'd like you to help enforce:

VLSRoulette.com Forum Rules:

The following rules are for the benefit of the forum. The emphasis is on creating an open and friendly environment where people feel welcome to share and discuss ideas and concepts, without fear of being attacked or ridiculed.

1. No abusive language or personal attacks. This includes even if it is just retaliation for what another member said to you. Moderators will not distinguish between who started it and who is retaliating. This is not a court of law. Consider this carefully if someone attacks you - if you retaliate, you risk being banned. Instead, just report the initiating member and give specific examples of their breach of the rules. Remember if someone you don't like breaks the rules and you don't, you'll have the last laugh.

2. No copyrighted material or intellectual property. It will just put the forum in danger of being shut down. It doesn't matter if the material is from a scammer - copyrighted material must be respected.

3. No "clickable" links unless from the moderators, or permission is give by the moderators.

4. Posts that promote products and services may only be made in the "Systems, Tools and Services For Sale" section. This includes services like moneybookers or whatever. If you post promotions or you are found to have been promoting against the rules, you will be banned. No-one wants spam.

4. Respect other people's opinions. Especially for experienced players, when someone says they have a holy grail that bets on red/black and they claim they can make millions overnight, it is hard to resist. Say what you think and it is best to support your opinions with factual data (although not "required"), but don't attack people personally. If you simply disagree with another member and aren't making any progress, it is best to simply agree to disagree - respect that everyone has their own views.

5. Do not inhibit free expression of ideas. Everyone should feel free to speak their mind without fear of being attacked or ridiculed. This rule is very important. For example: if someone says they can beat roulette with voodoo, you can give your opinion and whatever information to support your opinion, but don't make them feel small or talk down to them - they have the right to believe whatever they want.

6. Do not be a general nuisance ("trolling"), or behave in any way that significantly reduces forum productivity. Sure a member can "technically" avoid breaking the other rules, but still be bad for the forum. Such members will be warned about their behavior, and if such behavior continues, the member may be banned. The moderators at their sole discretion will determine what they consider to be "trolling".

7. No multiple identities.

8. Do not type entire posts using UPPER CASE (or significantly large chunks of text)

General Advice and Notes for Members:

    * If someone is breaking the rules, or is a general bully, report them and give specific details. Every post has a link so you can report it to the moderators. THE MODERATORS CANNOT POSSIBLY READ EVERY POST, SO THEY RELY ON THE REPORTING FROM MEMBERS.

    * If the event of a rule breach, members may be either banned for a day or so, or in more sever cases, banned permanently. Typically a warning will be given before any ban takes place, although this depends on the severity of the breach.

Respect other members:

    * Understand and respect that everyone is different, and everyone has independent beliefs. Yes belefs alone do not change facts, and often someone is wrong while someone is right. If you are right or at least believe this, I suggest state your case and reasons for your beliefs, and if another person doesn't see what you see or agree, let it be. Just get on with your life. Conflict will just drag you both down. When you try and force your views down another person's throat, conflict is inevitable.

    * Do NOT supress another member's ideas, or ostracize them for researching an area that you don't believe in.

PS - Welcome and thanks in advance for your help

Steve

Jish is now a moderator. I think if we have two more, that should be all the forum needs. Remember I dont care about your personal beliefs or even if you dont like me - all I care about is you enforcing the forum rules which are basic and no different to any other forum.

Steve, I thought over all the stuff, about how forum has been disturbed with the quarrels and fights, and decided to join Mods crew if u will allow me.

I want to bring up this kind of policy (if u alllow me) : I am goin to DELETE all the messages where fighting and blaming is involved. So let's say someone call u names, u reply personally, if I see the thread -- I remove all the respective  messages including that person's and yours. And I may  warn the person or may even not before I ban him. Everybody should know that if he brings public quarrels here he can be banned. If they want to quarrel let's them use private messaging. No disturbing others.

If someone wants to complain about something, I suggest we open "complains section" where they come up with all questions and complains toward you or somebody else, and there u can answer them. The complains should be CONCRETE without insulting and calling names. just stating the facts. This and that happened that way and this.
And if someone new comes with insults -- just ban them.

I think that Mod policy should be implemented without any mercy and favours and when Mods want they need no explanation to give to anyone. This way we can get rid of all unproductive and blaming and hateful stuff.

I think this blatant blaming and then defending against blames again and again and again goes on and on and on.
U just wake up a sleeping dog, and then the only your choice is to kill him to shut him up (I am not against dogs, I am against continous barking).

And one more thing: i suggest such a measure as a temporary ban. Someone may cool down for a couple of weeks and then come back fresh, nice and smiling. Of course if a person disturbs the board consistenly he will be banned for good, but i think we can give a chance to some people who can correct themselves and change their state of mind. Everybody can make a mistake.

Guys if someone thinks I am wrong please give me your opinions without quarrels

There is an accusation on win3million you are a "control freak"  Is that true?
Should not MODS be voted for by the members to prove they're true acceptance.
Would that not be fair to all?

oh, I got an honour to be mentioned in win3million? that's news! I love it.

yes, I am a contol freak. I am also a sleepwalker, cannibal, vampire and I eat c**kroaches for breakfast too. And I have
OCD attacks. I also love a wall- biting. I have new shining steel teeth.  :shout:

as for the Mods voting, don't ask me, ask Steve. I don't mind. I am not really dying to be a Mod, i just want this forum not being disturbed by fights and quarrels, that's it.

.......

but if we talk seriously I won't be upset if I am not a Mod. easier for me to carry on. one less responcibility.
but if I am a Mod, I wll try my best no matter what u think, Doc

iggiv

yep. Shot myself exactly between my balls. remember i have OCD attacks.

Steve

Iggiv I made you a mod because you appear to be someone of sound mind.

If we made a complaint section, it would be INVITING attacks - it wou;d be like what the "pit" was here before. I dont think it would be productive, but we could try it later if other things dont work. But for now, you are right and I said this before - that complaints and attacks should be done via PM. The board doesnt want to see them.

I'll write about this in the mod section later when I have time. Basically if there are attacks, remove them, warn the member. If it persists, ban them and let me know what actually happened so I can decide whether or not to remove the member. If someone is just creating a fuss where none should exist, that is just disruptive to the forum and member should be politely asked to behave more appropriately.

this is the way I do it iggiv but be careful there are arguments and there are heated discussions- the heated discussions normally bring very good and very valid posts
as for arguments and personal attacks i delete them and warn:)

iggiv

agreed guys. from now on i will try to be careful. Cool down people. Hope we can make a friendly and  productive board as it was before.
