So I went to vegas last week, not much of a gambler but I am pretty good with math so I played 2 of the 3 dozens at roulette for a few hours.  I started with only $20 and walked away with $500 heh not bad.  The odds were pretty good I think 24/38 to win.  I've also read about a strategy where you bet 1-18, the last dozen and 0/00 which is also pretty good, but less risk so less payout.  I was wondering if anybody else knew of some good bets (better than 50% to win).  It's hard to sort through all the crap (scams and TONS of different ways to figure out how MUCH to bet)

Side note, I know they say that it is a losing game no matter what you bet because of the house edge (but I keep $5/10 each time I win and put it in my pocket).  I guess they just mean you cannot win 100% of the time and if you keep betting everything you will eventually loose.  I don't bet everything, so winning ~70% of the time to win is good enough for me :)

Thanks, looking forward to your input.

in my opinion u were just lucky no more than this. the odds 24/38 are just for one time bet. it does not mean at all that next time u will be lucky like this. But u know it yourself

True.  I say quit while you're ahead.  Even your 24/38 calculation leaves out the fact that you lose twice as much as you win on that bet.

Then what do you bet on? Don't tell me you bet the numbers. . the odds are awful.  There is a good amount of luck to the game, but odds play a part too.  For example, I've seen people cover almost every number, they hit but get back 36 chips, less than they put out! Just silly

The odds are the same whatever you do mate. If you like winning on most bets then cover 11 streets. You may well win 20 times in a row, but the odds will come back to bite you when that inevitable losing streak hits, even a minor one.

samela,

Your win there was  just pure luck. As you will  gain more experience you will find that you cannot win   all the time   and  you will notice  that  there is  a way to come out  ahead with less numbers selected  but slightly ABOVE .  50/50 .

HAPPY WINNINGS!!!

Samela, make search in this forum with key words "books" and nickname "purple", there is a good thread about some good books worthy to get. No need to invent a bicycle.

Samela I play very successful roulette ,see my results on rouletteplayersclub.
I never play double zero roulette while the benefit of AR is to high.In the dutch legal casinos we have no double zero wheels. To develop a own good stratey is a hard long way.

Gambling is fantastic when it comes to measuring how skilled you are (or lucky).

You walk into the casino with $XXX and walk out with $YYY + entertainment value that is easy to measure too.

Entertainment costs money - it is usually not free.  My entertainment is measured with free drinks and interacting and watching fellow gamblers lose money.

I bet table minimums to start with and add to that ONLY winnings - I NEVER bet more than table minimums with my money.  So my suggestion to folks is to flat bet until you have enough winnings to use the casino's money to squeeze more money out of the casino.

I basically start each night with the cost of a very good meal at a 5-star restaurant (for 2) and that's all I'm willing to lose in one night of gambling.  If I lose that, I go home.

Hopefully you guys realize that Lady Luck runs the evening and you need to listen to her.  If she is in a foul mood you will lose and your bets will all be at table minimums.  If she feels great then you will be pressing your luck within a minute of the start of play and all evening.

Too many gamblers don't listen to Lady Luck and act very stupid at the tables - that's where I get my entertainment from - stupid gamblers doing stupid things; I really get a kick out of them.....

if you dont know much about the game mate then play for fun or luck, most strategys or systems in here can be hard to understand and there is no easey way of making money.

i have my system here that dose well for me but it would be complicated for you to learn so either learn about roulette or play for fun with no expectations.

never play colour, thats the worst, dozens are good but they will lose as well.

My research, so far, indicates the EC bets are the best for Roulette - everything else has less odds.

When the casino starts splitting numbers they take a piece of the action and you would have to make that up.

But I've got nothing to demo yet, just some interesting concepts that will keep me busy for the rest of 2011...

I suggest the following:
- don't bet on more than a single dozen at a time.
- don't bet on every spin
- track more than 1 table at a time
