Title: USA live online casinos
Post by: John1234 on June 02, 2009, 08:29:11 PM
I guess since I am a political science student I should know about this topic...but since I am on summer break I do not feel like doing any research. Does anybody know about the status of the online gambling laws? Do you think that live online casinos will be legal anytime soon? I'm tired of playing with play money on Dublin Bet, but I have a feeling that the current online gambling situation will remain this way for a long time.

Thanks

There is a bill by Barney Frank in the U. S. House of Representatives, but there hasn't been an update in a month.

That bill comes up for debate sometime in June.  Right now Barney Frank is a bit of a pariah because he is largely behind the housing debacle in this country.  He pushed for more and more people to buy homes who could not afford them--thus the bust!  So.......after having said too much........he may have a bit of a hump to jump to get his bill to the actual house vote.  Then it goes to the Senate for debate and re-writing.  I do expect it to pass since there is the idea that the government will earn up to a billion a year in taxes from the foreign casinos.

Will Obama sign the bill.  Well, sure, if the teleprompter tells him to!
