Hi,
right then this may sound daft to all of you experts but ill tell you all anyway, and before i start i have not done any tests so what ever your thoughts are good or bad please say. It is all about the martingale method with a twist i thought when you get to say bet 5 with the normal martingale progression 1 2 4 8 (16) betting on red then also start betting on black with half the amount. Until the red comes in this should ensure your bankroll has a better chance of keeping up with the bets on red until it comes in. Then once it does keep black on the same amount as when red won and then place half that amount on red, i think the best time to jump out of this betting style would be when both red and black bets are low.

thanks j.

Hello jhincks, and All,

I'm afraid that your "twist" does not help your bank-roll at all.
Quite the opposite, actually.

Whenever you plan to bet ALL sides of a bet, you should ALWAYS subtract the larger bet(s) from the smallest, and set the smallest = 0.
If all bets are equal, you don't bet at all.

Here is why:

For example, you bet 16u on Black and 8u on Red = 24u (your original way)
* If Black hits you get 32u back = a profit of 8u
* If Red hits you get 16u back = a loss of 8u
* If Zero hits you get 0u back = a loss of 24u

If you instead bet ONLY 8u on Black (16u on Black - 8u on Red = 8u on Black)
* If Black hits you get 16u back = a profit of 8u = EXACTLY as above
* If Red hits you get 0u back = a loss of 8u = EXACTLY as above
* If Zero hits you get 0u back = a loss of only 8u = A SAVING of 16u compared to the above

As you can see, both ways give exactly the same results if Black or Red hits but will SAVE YOU A LOT if Zero hits - and it will.

This is called "differential betting" and a good article on this is found here:

("The Most Stupid Bet?")
Highly recommended for all.

Best regards,
KFS
