'Leaving' announcements (poll)

What do you think about 'leaving' announcements?

Totally against them!
Everyone is free to do whatever they want.

Why do people feel compelled to announce that they're "leaving" an Internet forum (in this case our beloved VLS)? It just makes it all the more embarrassing when you show up again a bit later (or with a different nickname)...

I have to admit that people who do that sort of rubbish lose my respect completely. That's a bunch of gutless bleeding heart wimps that's aim is to ask for people's pity and tears. You guys look like arguing kids in the backseat of the car. It's not even funny.

My message to everyone who is considering leaving the forum: please, leave in peace! No need to create disputes and conflicts about your egocentric personality. We got to keep this place from turning into a kindergarten. My suggestion is this sort of announcements not to be tolerated (delete, lock, move... whatever).

I would also like to know how many of you out there agree with me. Thanks.

Did Gizmotron/Spike announce he left VLS ? Can you make a list of people who told they would leave but did not?  :pleasantry:

GogoCro

I agree.I am leaving also .... to bed! :clapping:

If Spike/Gizmo decided to leave VLS I would be shocked as I would not know what is an unsubstantiated argument, anymore. They help me to differentiate what it is having an empty mind.

Although I think "Good-bye" threads are kinda stupid too, especially when the goodbye lasts for a month... I wholeheartedly believe that EVERYONE has a right to say and do what they want on a forum. Provided they don't start throwing slurs or threats etc. But of course that would mean maturity on everyone's part, and, well... That's not going to happen anytime soon.

That is not wrong.

There is relations at this forum and i don't see any-thing wrong with saying thank you for this time.

But i can understand does who made 50 to 100 posts has not been around so much but still i think its nothing wrong with it.

Take care.

The obvious reason for making an announcement to leave a forum is because some members want to know
the reason why someone is leaving. The person leaving may also want to state the reason for leaving.

What's wrong with that?

As far as returning to a forum having left it for a while, I did leave this forum for a while and was assured
that the rules here had tightened up and everyone would be left in peace to get on with their particular
topic without any interference. This has turned out not to be so. When I do leave I can assure you this
time it will be forever. Under no circumstances will I return.

OK, I see... Obviously ridiculous arguments here are part of your everyday fun. I can live with that.

May the best of you win!

Too Much Drama!

I think people should be free to speak their mind.

One overly sensative and emotional person shouldn't be allowed to polarize an entire forum.

People should be able to state that they are leaving, especially so their friends here at VLS know what is going on.

I know if I was leaving the forum I would make a topic in the Moderators section.
