Why People Lose in The Casino

Spike!

We all know its very hard for most people to quit playing when they're behind or when they're ahead. Why is this? Greed takes over and they're sunk. Greed is an emotion, and what most people don't know is the part of your brain that deals with emotion is twice as large as the part that deals with logic. So when the tiny voice of logic is screaming 'Quit Quit Quit!' the huge greedy emotional part is saying 'Play Play Play'. Its really that simple, folks.

At one time we needed our emotions to be huge. We needed to flee dangerous situations, fight when we had to, get angry when needed. In modern times, none of those emotions are necessary most of the time. The good news is, we can learn to control our emotions. The bad news is, most people never bother.

Mr J

For me, it has little to do with stopping after losing or winning (greed). Me leaving the casino usually has to do with the TIME. Say for example, 6 hours or 9 hours, whatever. My watch determines when I leave.  Ken

what about people winning in casino? The same greed makes them winners...

Don't take it in a wrong sense.... I'm just making a point...  :dance1:

You have a good point.

The reason why people lose in the casino is:

1) The house has the edge.
2) The house has the higher (virtually unlimited) capital.

The player's bankroll-power is nothing compared to the house's, AND the latter has the edge, so of course people lose. Duh!

Well Said.. Noble Savage... :good:

People lose for 2 reasons. They don't know what they're doing, and they don't know when to quit, whether they're winning or losing.

QuoteYou're not in he casino enough in your liftime for the house edge to haveany effect on you.

Spike,

If there is only ever the next spin, when, exactly, does the house edge manifest itself? according to you, it's irrelevant. So how big would the house edge have to be before you would take notice of it? 5%?, 10%?, 20%?

Spike!

Over thousands of spins on many tables. I guess I should rephrase that part about the edge. Most peoples betting strategy is so poor, the house edge will never effect them. Is that better?

At the end of the day, what does the casino collect from the drop box? 14% to 17% of the money wagered that day? People love to reinvest their winnings.

I think most people would lose even without the house edge...randomness is the real killer IMO...

Yes, that's a fact.

When there's no house edge, it becomes solely a question of who has the highest capital (to survive the volatile random deviations). The player would lose, a bit slower than with the house edge.

Really, the only way to make money in the long run is:

1) Have the advantage.
2) Use a (preferably proportional) staking plan that ensures a 0% risk of ruin.

There is no other known way to produce long term income without these two factors.

Uh, I am afraid there is its called THE ZONE. Its been taming the wheel for 11 years now. And will always tame the wheel as long as its applied properly.

Charles you're boring, go back to your sorry-ass website.

Mr J

A little free advice. Stop begging posters to get interested in The Zone. I stopped that BS years ago. You post (or posted) your method....answer some questions and you are DONE. If people are not interested, so what? Ken

Bayes

Fender,

You sure are a great salesman, but I just wonder what it is that you're actually selling...  :-\

Mr J

Wait.....(I have read very little about this Zone).....Has he posted ALL rules, how to play it etc.?  Ken

Bayes

ken,

There are lots of variations, but the latest whizz-bang casino crusher is in the "THE BALANCE OF 5" thread - reply #101 posted by Atlantis. Fender is already having orgasms over it, on the strength of a few sessions.
