a "problem" gambler is someone who is addicted to losing. Now please give me a minute to explain, stop your internal dialog right now! and listen.

Humans get addicted to their emotional state, whether you perceive this to be good or bad, does not matter. The same parts of your brain are active when you are addicted to anything, whether it be cocaine, stamp collecting, OCD, any addictive behavior. The neural peptide chemicals released from your brain (aka emotions) flood the entire body and a reaction is felt, this goes for any emotional state, love, hate, envy, the list goes on and on.

So, to the point. A "problem" gambler is a person who (most of them) is addicted to the state of losing. The emotional state of losing is very intense, and they are addicted to it. As far as THEY perceive, they want to win, but their body craves to lose, to get that next "high".

I am currently helping a friend with this issue. I keep telling him, I do not want him to give up gambling (because he is actually quite good at it, assuming I am there to pull him away when he has a good profit). He like many others, are addicted to losing. So his "problem" is his addiction to losing, NOT gambling. So basically, I am getting him to play under my supervision and making him walk away every time as a winner. My theory is that eventually, he will break his addiction to losing and become addicted to winning. Since he is very good at getting profit in a short period, if he is addicted to winning, the feeling he will get when he is in profit will create an emotional state of well being and he will actually WANT to walk away a winner.

Time will tell....

@ Sam, mate, remember, its not gambling that's the problem, its your own emotions.... get addicted to the right ones ;)

Brother, I appreciate the time it took to write that and the time it took to learn it.  I will study long and hard on it.

Thanks for the help.

Now..........

I've said I've been making E5.00 in about 500 to 600 spins.  Well, here's one that went five times that amount and took me down E50.  My bankroll was such that E50 did not scare me, but had I been playing for dimes instead of pennies, I would have wiped out.  Dimes, while making E50 instead of E5, would require a huge bankroll.

That graph is part of a betting robot I am testing.  It is protected against copying.  You might want to read the first post in this thread.

It's like getting addicted to eating healthy food and working out, instead of eating McDonalds and watching TV.

I like your theory Poit
