Title: taking advantage of the law of thirds
Post by: curious on September 23, 2009, 04:22:00 PM
Hello,
IN thinking about the law of thirds, you know - out of 36 spins the average will be 24 unique numbers hit, I am wondering if this would work:
Make your unit size = table minimum.
Bet 1 unit on last number to hit.
For every spin add the last number that hit to the list of numbers you are betting.
Increase bet size as needed to win more than the sum of the previous losses after a loss.
After a win reset bet size to 1 unit.
After 36 spins start over.

theoretically the average number of wins per 36 spins would be 12.

I know this won't work in practice or else everyone would be doing it, but I am wondering why it wouldn't work.

Because you're dealing with random and in the short term, where we place our bets, absolutely anything can happen and usually does.
