Spike!

Is it possible to guess higher than 50% on any even chance, like red/black, or coin flips?

Spike!

So if you can do it by accident, you  can't do it on purpose? Why not?

Herb6

Spike,

Of course you can.   The laws of physics only apply to the rest of the world.  :)

Luck.

Depending on your luck, sometimes you will guess better than 50%, sometimes you won't.

I agree that a good understanding of how randomness behaves could possibly help your score.

However to do it consistently and forever would take extraordinarily good luck plus "something extra".

Random.org has a good exercise to see if you can behave as random does:

To you, what does 'luck' mean?

Spike!

Herb Snickered: <<Of course you can.<<<

See? Herb has no idea how to answer this question, so he tap dances around it. About as I expected.

Luck is a universal phenomenon whereby in the course of time one's level of synchronicity ebbs and flows toward and away from any ideal state. It's a pendulum effect that is inherent in much of what we experience in this world and very hard to escape from.

That's what it means to me.

What does it mean to you?

Spike!

What does it mean to you?>>

I don't believe in luck. Its just a catch-all phrase we use when we don't understand whats going on. When something good happens, its 'good luck'. Luck doesn't exist, there's only what happens. Most of life is made up of random events, luck doesn't explain anything because its a meaningless word.

Spike!

Sorry, but it's just luck. >>>

Look, Herb got got a top hat and a cane to go with his tap shoes! Blame it all on a meaningless word when you don't know the answer.

Herb6

Sorry, but it's just more of the same.  It's "Old Gambler's Fallacy".

Ho hum.

Spike!

The question was: Is it possible to guess higher than 50% on any even chance, like red/black, or coin flips?

And your answer is gamblers fallacy? Thats a yes or a no? You won't answer, will you. Because you know I have your argument beat.

Herb6

*Sigh*

Sorry Spike, but I'm not interested. :stop:

Spike!

I knew you wouldn't say.  The only answer is, of course you can guess better than 50%. And that being true, if you can figure out why you guessed correctly every time you do, you'll eventually be able to do it consistantly. That is, if you can get off the train wreck called 'luck' and pay attention to whats really happening. But most people are very comfortable on that ol train, they ain't getting off for nothin..
