Casino chips.....different weights?

I read one time ,(I think it was on Wikipedia), that all the chips weigh the same...this was so that they can weigh very large amounts of chips instead of counting them!!

I thought I read the opposite (but could be wrong), if they wanted to weigh different unit chips, they would calculate 'in', what the denomination is and then weigh. I think (again, might be wrong) different weights are to avoid counterfeiting but I'm thinking so what.....just bring one home with you, then weigh it.

The opposite of that arguement..... some casinos have a sensor at the doors. The larger chips have a tiny chip in it that "alerts" whatever or whoever that a chip is leaving the casino. Next question, lets say you have a few black chips ($100), is it your right to leave the casino with it? It is your chip, I think??  Ken

Dream on...  the casinos would be only TOO HAPPY to see those chips NEVER brought back, ie, cashed in.

Lol, I already gave up posting at Patrick's board.  Too many persons there with nothing left to lose except his advice, nay clap-trap, all pretending they're starting from different places, ready for some great journey... but still headed for the same old-fart, afternoon bus-ride to some casino near us all so it will "look busy" for a few hours, and the casinos can put the limits up.

P.S  When was the last/first time anyone saw anyone weighing anything at a casino?

It does not mean I'm right, I'm only asking. #2 If they were weighed, we would never see it. #3 Even The Spiders Kiss noted chips being weighed...... I cant think of a quicker and more ACCURATE way of counting MANY chips (hundreds). Ken

Most casinos have many "generations" of their own say $5-chips in circulation... some even with rounded versus sharp edges/designs.  And the same for the slot tokens (, where still used,) aggravated by a lot of persons putting in the wrong tokens, or even legal-tender coins (, where not allowed).

And chipped chips are out there.
