You have got the progression wrong. You lost a 5 bet, meaning you should have moved onto a 2 unit bet next. Use Atlantis' 11111222223333344444 etc. In his own words:

"On a win (say it was on the third bet of 3) and you are still behind, instead of incrementing stake by 1 unit for next qualifier, continue betting on the next qualifier from that last win point eg: third bet of 3"


Try more numbers and see how you do and if you can recover.

Whilst I understand the system very well, I'm sure there is a better progression for 12 numbers ~ Any ideas..?

check out this and other forums as there are plenty of dozen playing methods with many different progressions. All depends on how aggressive or safe you wanna play it. Atlantis' version yielded profits nearly every time, albeit not the greatest amount. you could try 111222333444 etc   or 1123, 2246, 448(12)
