Here my question:

Say 1,000 players are playing Joyland.  By pure chance all 1,000 click "spin" at exactly the same time.  Not even 1 10,000th of a second off; exactly the same time. (I know it's not possible; work with me, here.)

Would all thousand get the same number?  Does the RNG produce numbers at the rate of, say, one per second.  All who ask for a spin within the time leading up to the end of that second will get the same number?

OR

Does each player have his own RNG going which is designed just for him and can beat him at will?  We all know how expensive (laugh!) it would be to build an RNG with a brain to beat you.  Pennies compared to millions won!

What say ye?

Sam - I think that's a very good question.  I'll ask Joyland :)

Declare uncovered as array

for each number with bets == 0 { addTo(uncovered); }

randomPickFrom(uncovered);

In the UK they have roulette machines in the bookmakers. Coral bookmakers one of the largest chains has 4 machines in each shop. It is well known that if you press spin at the exact same time as someone else you are given the same number. You find guys trying out strategies to exploit this. So it is possible your question of a 1000 players hitting the same number at the same time. I doubt the software companies would divulge any info of this occuring if its the same online. Anyway VLS has just given them a free sample of code to stop us winning. :(

Dear Ulysses, that code doesn't work, it isn't computer code. That is just a funny human-readable "pseudo-code", a la C++  ;)

Point being you don't need to create any sophisticated functions into an RNG to "learn" systems and act against them; it is simply a matter of keeping the wins lower than the losses by merely identifiying empty numbers and picking one among them, no need to setup any neural network when it is the casino the one sending the numbers.

Placing wagers with any casino is a trusting relationship; this is basically why casinos are supposed to avoid cheating... although I read once at the spanish forum shall there be a big sign at the automated tables saying "This machine's mechanism is cheating with air and magnets", there will still be players wagering over the premise that "cheating mechanism might fail next spin" ::)

Live and learn!

Anything, that is 100% harmless code, try using it as computer code by compiling it and get compilation errors :)

Victor
