Not sure if this his the right forum, but I was just wondering if these things are legit. Don't read too much into this BTW, just curious as I came across a couple of sites about them.  ???

Boo_Ray

they are all ilegal and most of them don't work

..Not to mention you could actually end up playing with a greater negative edge if you don't operate it correctly.

Let's mind this: with a properly operated roulette computer, it tells you the most approximate area where the ball would land, with an improperly operated computer having incorrect input data, it could end up telling you to bet the are where the ball is LESS LIKELY to land! Thus giving a greater negative edge.

Trying to alter the physical game odds has this risk  :o

So if I have a faulty computer then I need to bet the opposite? Just kidding.  ;D  But on a serious note, how is using a computer "physically" altering the game? Also, how is it any different than using software when playing live online? Other than the casinos not letting you of course.

Sure, let me elaborate.

Roulette is two games in one:

1) A Random number generator game.
2) A Physical game (when considering the actual device: wheel/disc, ball and also the dealer).

There are methodologies to approach each type of game.

It is said roulette as a Random Number Generator can't be beat, simply because the odds can't be changed into the player's favor at the abstract (non-physical) level a random number generator operates; it is also said, while you can't be able to beat randomness, you can beat the physical game odds, either by spotting biased wheels, or hunting dealer "signatures" or -in the case of a roulette computer- trying to predict where the ball will land after it is released.

Plain and simple, when you are into beating roulette by predicting the disc section you are actually changing the odds of the game in your favor by determining a certain section of the disk over the other parts at a higher rate than what the abstract game's probability dictates; this does not mean you are altering the game as it develops; this means you are changing YOUR personal odds using physics. You ARE altering the physical game's odds for you (and you have become an advantage player).

As much as reading the physical data can help you determine correctly and give you the positive edge, you can make yourself a loser too!. Assuming the computer's internal algorithm is actually working, then you have this scenario: Bad input data = bad prediction; the more correct the input data, the more accurate (and profitable) your prediction.

So if you are planning in using a roulette computer you better practice and master your data input process. Unless you are using one of those hybrid roulette computers which predict by just pointing a camera at the wheel.

Very good elaboration Victor, thanks.

All the best,

Marven, actually that is perhaphs one of the greater frustrations in roulette, to get an advantage play device, not operating it correctly and actually give yourself worse odds than the random-playing, chip-scattering tourist next to you!

When betting roulette as a random game, it is also said you just can't do worse than expected (of course, you can't do better than expected either), so in this "harcore math" sense, there are no better or worse roulette players, there are just players all working under the same game conditions.

This is why bet selection is so laughed at by math people, as each spin's odds are fixed.

Kind regards,
Victor

Very good post although I doubt anything can make your play any worse than random. I would think it's all pretty even like you said. Thanks for the reply.  :)

some work and some don't.  roulette computers don't exactly predict the number.  they predict a drop point.  so you play a sector.  but yes if you don't know what you are doing it could cost you more than it will make you.  The big problem is finding the right wheel and conditions.  It is not a magic button that you just press and win.  It is work to learn and a lot of practice.  it is alot more work than people think to use them.
