splitting the progression line into several parts

hi folks,

a couple of days I stumbled upon this website:

the guy claims, that if you split your progession line you would increase your changes of winning pretty much.

example:

you wait for a dozen not to appear for 9 spins. than you start betting on it using the following progression:

1-1-2-3-4-6-9-14-21-31-47-70-105-158-237-355-533

if you lose the first four steps you don't continue betting. you stop and wait for the next dozen not to appear for 9 times. then you continue your progression with step 5 -7. if you lose again you apply the same procedure following your progression.

well, I wonder does this really increase the changes to win? or does it it just look that way at first glance but math shows that it doesn't help a bit?

First of all I do not trust systems that have progressions that as high as this one, because they are unplayable due to table limits. But anyway.
Let's see.
Which is better:

1. A 17-step progression for 1 dozen.
2. A combination of two 4-step and three 3-step progressions for 1 dozen

1. Chance to lose is = (2/3)^17 =  0,001 = you lose once in 1000 tries.
2. Chance to lose is = (2/3)^4 * (2/3)^4 * (2/3)^3 * (2/3)^3 * (2/3)^3 = (2/3)^17 =  0,001 = you lose once in 1000 tries.

Both systems have exactly the same chance of losing.
