Surfing the Streaks

Firstly. I fully expect this theory to have been developed before, as it is so simple. If so please let me know. If not, cool, either way, I just wanted your opinion's on whether you think it is a flier or not.

So,

We all know that in roulette we see winning streaks and losing streaks, and that no matter how good our system, we will usually be beaten in the end by a horrific losing streak!

This fact got me thinking about winning streaks and losing streaks!

This money management system can be applied to any bet with a bit of giggery pokery, but it works best for evens bets, and it is these that I will begin with.

We will ignore our bet selection for now and just concentrate on Red/Black bets, as I think it works for any bet!

I had the following thoughts:

"we cannot see the future, and so we don't know when a winning streak is going to happen"

"therefore, we cannot "wait" for one to happen to jump on it"

so, "we must bet every spin in order to have a chance of solving this problem"

If we do bet every bet "wouldn't it be cool if we could ride out the losing streaks, with minimal losses, and then jump on a winning streak as it begins and really nail it"

So, we need to bet so that what we win on a winning streak is much more than what we lose on a losing streak. The theory being that we will come out on top in the long run.

Here is what I came up with!

Rules:
1. Choose your bet. (we will choose RED) bet this every time.
2. Bet every spin.
3. First bet - 1 unit. (1 unit on RED)
4. If we lose, bet 1 unit on the next spin.
5. If we win, increase the bet by 1 unit.
6. When the winning streak ends we go back to a 1 unit bet.

So basically when we are losing we are losing 1 unit a spin, but when we hit a winning streak we will win more and more the longer it lasts.

You could see this as a waiting strategy. We are waiting for a winning streak that wins us a lot of money.

If we label our spins as W for win or L for lose. we will end up with a record that looks like this:

There are 2 types of streaks here.
1. Winning streaks that end with a loss.
and
2. Losing streaks.

So we would split the record as follows:

A losing streak will lose us 1 unit a spin, so a LLL will be -3, a LLLLLLL will be -7, etc.

Winning streaks that end in a loss are split up depending on the length of the streak.

i.e We will have,

WL, WWL, WWWL, WWWWL, .......... and so on....

The amount of money won/lost for each streak differs:
WL -1
WWL 0 (break even)
WWWL +2
WWWWL +5
WWWWWL +9
WWWWWWL +14
WWWWWWWL +20
WWWWWWWWL +27
WWWWWWWWWL +35
WWWWWWWWWWL + 44

Whilst we are amongst the losing LLL streaks and the small winning streaks we will probably be losing a bit of cash, but we will hit a big winning streak in the end and when we do we win big!

Positive progression is great since you're not digging into your bankroll.
You only have to keep your discipline and not chase after earlies losses.
Positive progression relies on the statistical groundrule, that wins and losses come in waves.

THIS IS MY POSITIVE PROGRESSION FOR THE LAST 2 COLUMS/DOZENS TO APPEAR 17 TIMES WOULD MEAN A +207UNIT PROFIT.


ill be testing this on excel with over 4,000 spins this is how many spins I would try to do each month around 120 spins a day, this will give me a far better picture of how often a colum/dozen goes to sleep for 17 spins or more.

I have a problem tho if anyone can help I would love for excel  experts to let me know how to get excel to know whever of not a number is in colum A 1-12. COLUM B 13-24, COLUM C 25-36

Hey Matt,

If I'm reading your request right, it's simple.  All you want to do is have a column tell you what dozen the spin is in?

Then if that's the case, simply use a VLOOKUP...

I'll show you how - just ask if need be.
