Blackjack Basics

This is the thread which will give info about basic rules and play for blackjack.. The main object of the game is to achieve a total of 21 or lesser with your draw of cards. more than 21 would mean "bust". the objective is to make the dealer bust before you, and if neither bust then to have a total higher than the dealer..

i am posting a link which is an article about the basics of blackjack.. its pretty interesting and simple.. read on..

nolinks://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackjack (nolinks://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackjack)

pls keep these threads rolling with more info about how to play the game

BASIC STRATEGY

Basic strategy is simply what actions the player should take after receiving his first two cards, in relation to the dealers up card.In other words whether the player should stand, hit, split or double down after receiving his first two cards.

RULES OF BASIC STRATEGY

*If the players first two cards total between 12 and 16 and the dealers up card is 6 or less the player will stand.

*If the players first two cards total 11 or less and the dealers up card is 6 or less the player will hit until his total is 12 or more.

*If the players first two card total 16 or less and the dealers up card is 7 or higher, the player will hit until his total is 17 or higher.
The exception to this rule is when the players had drawn 3 cards in all which total 16 and the dealer has a 7 or higher. It is suggested, in this case, that the players chances of drawing a high card has increased and should consequently stand. Also if the player has drawn 4 cards with a total or 15 and the dealer has a 7 or better you would stand.

*If the players first two cards total 17 or more you do not hit, no matter what the dealers up card is.
The exception to this rules is where the player could have a "soft" total or 17. That is an ace and a 6.

Occasionally, I like to split two tens/jacks/queens/kings when the dealer has a 5 or 6 face up, thinking he's gonna bust.  Turns out to be half win and half lose.
