Well you can use your RC as a time device or a thumper.
You can also turn your cell phone into a metronome.

Another term for "Headcount" is a "Cadence". A Cadence is a count or sentence that is recited mentally. This is used to help clock the wheel speed. A cadence can be a count from 1-10 or 1-20 or anything, it can even be "Happy Brithday" or the alphabet. As long as the count, song or sentence is consistant each time you recite it, then you can use it for timing. A 1 second cadence may not be as accurate as say a 3 or 4 second cadence, but a 1 second cadence can be used multiple times in a single spin to verify speeds. Using you cadence is as simple as picking a deflector on the wheel and waiting for the zero to pass under your deflector. Once the zero is under you recite your cadence to yourself. When your cadence is finished, keep track o fthe current number under your deflector or keep track of the amount of wheel revolutions made. Cross reference this number or rev. number with subsequent spins to verify if the wheel speed is consistant or erratic.
