When talking to malty, we came on topic about the Perfect Loser thread. This is a repost from the old server.

Malty himself asked me to open this thread. Since he is a dealer he has plenty of anecdotes and mental attitude to share about the day to day "Perfect Losers" he meets while dealing.

Here it goes. I'll indicate other posters in bold at the top.

Between some spanish PRO's there is the thinking that the mentality of the winners can be "seen" by using the figure of its oposite: the perfect loser (PL).

This is a fictional character which is bound to fail in gambling with its current attitude.

I am compiling a list of 100 things the Perfect Loser does. This will help me in my learning and I want to share a little bit of the process, since it can benefit plenty of others.

Here I will add to my list, you can add whatever you think too. The goal is to make 100 things the perfect loser does.

The most obvious "clasic" ones:
- The PL stays in the game till the last chip is lost.
- The PL doesn't know when to stop when he's winning, so he does the previous point.
- Whe he loses, the PL gambles more and more and more, looking to a quick recoup.
- Once the PL recoups, he goes back to the first point.

Some more to complete the list:
- The PL needs the adrenaline rush of big bets.
- The PL looks for the "Big win". He can't take small wins, it is "all or nothing".
- The PL uses negative progressions.
- The PL thinks no matter if he loses today, he is "investing" in learning, since once he finds "THE SYSTEM" he will make everything back and more to justify.
- The PL is a risk taker, but takes the wrong risk at the wrong times (i.e. rising the bets martingale style at a losing tram).
- A type of PL is convinced gambling is 100% luck, no strategy involved at all (so why care about bet selection?).
- If the PL takes a system, he uses the "easy ride" ones (martingale anyone).
- The PL doesn't educate himself enough about the system he uses (You need to know your system inside out before placing the first real money chip on it).
- The PL at the last moments of the session plays tired, bored. At a time he just wants to "stop the torture" of not winning but still have chips and since he can't go away till the last chip is in game, he even tries to lose on purpose (unconsciously).
-The PL doesn't separates his game from his emotions, so winning makes him feel on top of the world, while losing makes him feel miserable (take notice guys, always "sober" no adrenaline rush on wins, no mid-session depressions when losing).
- The PL doesn't know WHY HE'S PLAYING.
- The PL mostly plays to have distraction, not to win (pretty amazing, right? Check out people at the table).
- The perfect loser sees every single spin as a betting opportunity (possible adrenaline rush due to a win).
- Because of the above, the PL is a fan on playing each and every spin (which is a "no no" for situational play).
- The PL is usually a SMART person! At other venues of life the perfect loser can be a total winner (i.e. a successful professional, excellent salesperson, etc. even outperforming at its field, whatever it may be). Only a smart, successful person can have the amounts of money the Perfect Loser loses at the casino.

TwoCatSam:

My own PL trait
Victor,

When I become the Perfect Loser, it is because I stop doing the things I know work and begin chasing after those I think should work or those I have been told work. I even know why I do this.

When I do what works, it almost takes the gambling aspect out of play. I am a grinder. OK, I'm down a hundred and soon I will be up a hundred---happens all the time. B O R I N G!!!

The devil on my shoulder pipes in, "Hey, man, put $25 on that 0. He's way overdue." And I do it and do it and do it. And when I'm sick of losing I go back to the grind and build up my bankroll the old, slow way. Then I am the winner.

Anyone identify?

Sam

mr j

A) Does not know all the rules to the game.
B) Loses everything and leaves the table. Back 3 minutes later, went to the ATM machine to get more money!
C) Just lost the rent money but plays it off like its nothing. Such as "hey no big deal, its only money". Tries to laugh it off but you can see a tear forming.
D) Feels the need to be totally drunk. Maybe acting stupid while betting will help him out? (lol) Ken

(word these anyway you want but I think they are good)

Nice one. I see it all the time, scattering chips without caring is the TOP system used at the tables. Casinos must definitely love the ones using that system.

I can only wonder what is their mind thinking in the mid of chip placement for the current day:

- Today I used 2 cabs, (straight-up chip at number 2).
- Saw my 14 (straight-up bet) -year-old kid kissing a girl on my way to 22th (straight-up) street.
- I had 3 burgers at McDonalds (straight-up chip at number 3 and let's add a zero to form 30, that big mac was round-shaped).

trip08

The Perfect Loser loves to see chips on the layout, and loves to see chips being paid out. It's as if making a profit was secondary.

The really really Perfect Loser wears his losses as a badge. He's the cult hero at the casino simply by his ubiquitous presence and the colossal amounts he wagers. He really appears to be, or should we say, is, on a mission to empty all his bank accounts as fast as possible.

mr j

Good point. Not paying attention to GROSS and NET!!!!! Ken

What a perfect loser does:

- Blames the dealer that he is playing against him, that he can somehow control the ball ( I have learned and this from dealers who have been dealers for 30 years and more and have worked across europe that it is Impossible to hit a sector where you want to..... Even if ou have sbeen spinning the wheel for 30 years!!!

- You shouldn't tip if you don't want too!!! Many players I see seem pressured that they should tip if a straight number hits ( the unwriten rule is that you " would " tip if your straight number get hit.....Remember it's your money and you can do what you want with it!!!

- For the love of god people don't drink that free beer and hard alchol drinks just becuse they are free.....I saw the most stupid bets from this people....A guy got so drunk, that he betted all of his cheaps on 35 ( I think becuse it's his age ).....well of course he lost!!!! Very Happy

Well most of the things have already been said.....

VLS....gospell truth

MY first post....I am compeled to agree with you completly. I am the perfect PL specimen. With the money i've lost, most people could have had probably bought a property with it.

And the worst is....knowing it and not able to refrain from it.

Quoteknowing it and not able to refrain from it.

Let's start by getting out of the table once you lose 50% of your buy-in if you are never up in your session. Make that the very first rule.

Imagine this: if people who lost it all would have stopped at -50% buy-in, then they still must have half of what they lost. Half a house is quite a lot for those who have lost it.

===

Second. Stop using progressions. Forget about them for a while. Wouldn't it have been wonderful to only lose 2.7% of what you wagered? Well let's start by trying that.

===

Third: GET A SYSTEM YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH, THEN LEARN ITS CYCLES TO BUILD AN STRATEGY. First learn a system in full and its regular cycles; after that you can bet on it.

------------------------

What betting selection are you using right now?

-----------------------

Willing to help,
Victor.

hashisfun

My system depends on my mood swings. Usually martingale on even money (i know its the worst thing as i have been burnt by it many times)....other times when i am sensible (which rarely is) i play on all 6 even money bets using the d'alembert....this has almost won all the times....say an average of 1 unit per spin. Rarely ever has it faltered, i stop after about 200 spins when 2 opposite bets are about the same value i.e. on of (red/black)(/high/low)(even/odd) are almost equal then stop that, continue with the other 2 sets and so on till the next set is almost equal. Yes this can take you down by say a few thousand units but eventually it revives.

Try it....even against zuma or with hamburg spins on RX....wins almost ever time.

P.S. My dear friend....a PL can't and never will change....and he knows it.

...And this thread from "hashisfun" ended it.

Now with the help of good people as our "insider malty" dealer in touch with PL's all day long all and the inclusion from John Solitude, we have enough material/anecdotes with them to fill this thread up.

Remember, the very point of the perfect loser thread is to have "a list of things he does to learn from". By staying away of the perfect loser attitude, we already gave the first step in our gambling evolution.

Best regards,
Victor.

Malty

Hi guys, Maltezan here....
The post that Victor made covers te perfect loser very god....
Ok lets start then....

- Always have a clear stop win/lose......make it before you go to casino...

- Well a good psy. trick is that you would go in the casino whit lets say 600$ ( you would have a 200$ stop loss ) if you would lose the 200$, you wuld get the hell out of there...but becuse you would still have the 400$ in the pocket, you wouldn't fill so bad...trust me it works ( Lanky told me this one )

- Some people fill prressured to bet all the time...they think that the pitboss and the dealersare getting annoyed becuse he isn't betting, and just bet....look guys, you should remeber that you are the the guys that bring the money to the casinos...you guys are really the BOSSes....so keep a cool head and forget about the people around you.....

- For the love of good people don't take any tips fom people sitting in the casino and not playing ( we have a guy in the casino who lost everything,- his house, his car, his wife, his family, his honor at the casino...the guys beggs other player for chips and so on.....he is also the "expert" around here....if the number 23 falls...he start telling loudly " But of course it had to be 23, it always follow like that....the guy is sure that he can beat the table!!!!...LoL....mind you that he really means the table...since he has never looked at the wheel...

- There is no such thing as luck or bad luck at the casino....there are only good streaks and bad streaks for the CURRENT system YOU ARE USING!!!!!!Get that throug your thick sculls ;D just kidding guys.....but seriously you should really read the postes on this forum before playing....trust me it will be worth your effort...

- Please guys, while it's true that dealers can't heat sector to safe their lifes, that doesn't mean that you should insult us....trust me whe dealers can be real basterds if we want to.... [smiley=evil.gif]...We can slow the game down.... we can spin the wheel the moment we give you the chips ( nightmare for any strategy player...as one always has a notepad with him and has to write down thigns.....)...and much more...so just remeber be a niec guy to them...ask him how he is and so one...trust me it works wonders....I once waited whit the spin becuse one of our "regulars" went to the bathroom....the guy is always nice to us....while he is the Perfect loser....plays to the last chip....he is always kind and takes the game of the day as it is....

- To tell you the truth I haven't seen people using thier heads in the casino...well....almost never.....wait..but I did see a person hitting his head at the wall....well....at least some people are trying ;D joking....

- ALWAYS have something to write with and to write on...like paper and pencil.....trust me that is one of the first steps to becoming a winning player....

Ok guys am going to sleep as I came home from work 3 hours ago...(worked till 4am ).....
Will post more if you guys want....

QuoteWill post more if you guys want....

Your posts are very welcome. It is always refreshing to get tips... from the other side of the table.

i'm going to bed too. 3:48 a.m. over here. this post is the last one for the day. hope you compliment the fellows with more casino stories ... yes sir, at the casino there are enough stories to write a book.

Regards,
Victor.

Malty

Hi guys, Malty here....

Will post some more things you guys should think about....

- There is no such thing as GAMLBING FOR FUN......there is just winning an losing...that's it!....chose which side you want to be on....but be prepered to work hard if you want to be on the winning side...

-have an seperate account or a budget for gambling ( don't use it for anything else except for pro roulette play )

- also one more thing: TEST than TEST some more and when your done testing....yes you guessed it alright...do some more TESTING....look guys test your system so much that you are comfortable with it....that it becomes a routine....
John Solitude said that he tested a system for a 100 winning sessions on paper, and if he lost, he startet from scratch...Well don't need to test that hard but I would test about 10.000 spins or about 40 sessions without a loss...with about 250 spins per session...also were important when testing....per session test only the number of spins taht you think could be focused enough in the casino...(it diffrent to test 400spins on paper thatn to sit 10 hours in the casino...trust me...)

- Also guys....even if people like Victor, Lanky, Ronjo and a few more can play for 8 hours straight on....that doesn't mean YOU CAN....I know it nice to hear what profites they got...but I would suggest to have short sessions at first...becuse the mind can start to get unfocused.....so don't push yourself the very first time you will go to the casino.....take your time...there is always tommorw...

- Alos guys...if your felling sick or you had a bad day......don't go to casino, it can get even worse ( no it's not one of Murphy's Laws...hmmm...but could be ;D )...why I say this....becuse when your sick or having a really bad day...you will focuse harder....trust me guys.....from what I saw in this short time as a roulette dealer....casinos and roulette will be around for another 10.000 years  ;D

Hmmmm....ok guys that's it for this time...will post some more i na while...

Also my postes while have a joke of the day

Joke of the day 1#:

A woman came to my table and...now get this... bet one 10€ chip on red and black on the same time!!!!! ( half the chip was on red and half on black).....an get this....I told here htat the bet is not possible...black comes.....she start to yell that we are cheating....I told here that she can't bet on the split from red and black...and get this...she did it again the next spin....black fell again said to her again that isn't a allowe dbet...she startet shouting, insulting that I'm cheating...that I only do this to here...she wanted that the pitboss changes me an so on...the pitboss was laughing so hard...well aftetr about 10 minutes...when the casino supervisor came...and explaind to here....taht you can only bet on 1 color and can't bet split she nodded and than said, now get this"( A small silence fills the air.....and then the woman says )....I see...this must be a new rule right???............HAHAHAHAHA ;D
My god what you don't see here......

that's it for today,

Have a nice day,

Maltezan

Hi Guys!!

So much helpfull was this post, i love it!!  thanx to you all...
Now, someone can explain me what is a negative progression?
and which is the "good" one?

take care friends, and keep posting,
Renzo

admin

Negative progression = Rise when you lose.

The king of the negative progressions is the Martingale or "Double-up".

The allegedly better are the Positive progressions, or rise as you win, since you rise with casino money.

But wait, "up as you win" is trickier, because it is all about exit point, keep rising and you'll end up wiped too. You have to decide when will you take the profits.

There is a system called "winning parlays". Good example on positive progressions.

Those who wish to learn from my mistake should take a moment and watch this video.  It is very short.  The voice is screwed up, but you'll get the gist of it.  This video exhibits my "perfect loser" mentality at work.  I cannot even blame this on A.D.D as I was very much involved in something else which took my attention.  And the sin of hubris figures in.  There for a minute, I was ten feet tall and bulletproof!

hi iboba,

could you please axplain more on this is know that the numbers are very precicly scatterd around the wheel will there ever be a time when lets say the dealer will try and aim for a particular section e.g a man has just placed £1,000 on red adn £50 on 11,8,10,6,24,17,33. would the dealer lets say try and aim this spin for 0 because it would make the house win £1,350 profit of would this sort of thing never happen from you experience .
