I am a bit confused about the question you asked.
Variance and method of play are unique to each system, there is no need to compare them, only the outcomes. There are a million ways to Rome and the only thing that counts is that we get to Rome.
In the end I only want to know which system is the most efficent at making a consistant profit, and to do that you need to have an equal method of judging the profit. Hence a need to make a unit equal to a unit.
