Dear friends.
If you read I was going to stop being the administrator of the forum, you read right.
I have my reasons for this and I know you guys can comprehend.
Either Sam or Lionel are perfectly able to take the spot and shift duties from CO-administrators to Admin #1.
The forum will continue to be named "VLSroulette.com" and I will keep around as "Honorary Owner" or as "Friendly Ex-Admin" or something like that, but I won't be able to sustain the duties as forum administrator anymore.
Your friendly forum (soon ex-)Administrator.
Victor
I wish you every success, Victor.
Perhaps you can keep us posted of your new venture(s).
I would certainly like to see what you do and the direction you take.
By the way, I write professionally, so if you need a writer...
Best wishes

Thanks for your kind words dear Esoito.
It is a particularly hard time for me and my family and it is always good to have friendship from the fellows around.
As for the hiring part, all my projects are and will always be IT-oriented, so expect forum hosting or web-based apps... :blush2:
Many thanks for taking the time to spare your kind words.

Job-wise.
Victor,
I also wish you all the best for the future, we all much appreciate the work you have put into this forum and as it was built on
sound foundations, it will I am sure continue to develop into a very productive forum.
Kind Regards
Richard
Thanks chips, I will still be around, just in a (much) lesser fashion.
So basically expect development in "slow motion", as I won't be able to afford much time to the board.
QuoteI am sure continue to develop into a very productive forum.
I am too confident people will still support the board and it will surely be always heading forward.
By the way... we can also bring a long-time moderator for the position too.
I vote for Herb !

Victor, I'm glad that you have enough common sense to let it go. Your life is far more than baby sitting curious strangers that are afflicted by a common interest, even though yourself, you might not have the freedom to actually go gambling. I could understand gambling putting a strain on your marriage. To sit in servitude to a forum dedicated to that endeavor could be the last straw.
Victor, are you a pro gambler yet? Have you found your own holy grail that wins more than it loses, long term? I just want to know because you have done so much work to find it. Could your marriage pass the test of it allowing you to keep searching for that method?
Perhaps it's time to give up on Roulette too.
Very sad to see you step down Vic, but of course family comes first. Completely understand your decision, and thank you for the great job you have done! Certainly glad you won't be leaving us for good though.
This sucks, the forum definitely won't be the same from now on.
Victor,
You are a true professional in every sense of the word. Thanks for all your kindness to so many people on this forum over such a long period of time. The very best to you and your family.
Hello Victor,
Sorry to hear about that you are leaving as forum administrator. I think you have shown that you have put inn loads of your time to make this forum happening. We can only respect your desicion.
Good luck and health to you and your family!!

Thanks Jakk, Nathan, roules, Homeito, Kingpin, Trung, metalrat, sniper, Lucky and Matty, iboba, Marven, purple, xman, hot vegas night, James Wendel, wally, esoito, Carlitos...
for your supportive messages. Supportive messages make my day and make me happy, I thank you for that.
Quoteare you a pro gambler yet?
No and I won't be 100% as long as I'm not an advantage player or have obtained the positive edge at the game to win flat betting...
QuoteHave you found your own holy grail that wins more than it loses, long term? I just want to know because you have done so much work to find it.
Right now I am playing recreationally. As a recreational player, I still depend on "average luck".
On "bad luck" days, I lose. On average and good days, I win (because of money management, not hit rate).
I don't know beforehand how much will I make, *IF* I win. Besides it takes many hours to "grind it".
Right now, I wouldn't be making a living on it solely. I need to have some steady form of income so I know the family won't starve. I was having it working to local companies and a had a steady contract renewal which allowed me to monitor the forum while working, but as everything, it reached to an end.
Now I am about to start a strictly "for-a-profit" online venture to try to achieve stability, and yes, it is intended to be forum-related (and more likely have web-apps programming included too).
Like celiza said: Family goes first.
In the past my ventures were mostly focused for others to make money (I.e. local companies web-programming, local industry pages to take orders online, and the like). Now I enjoy providing a platform for people to exchange information and debate and will do my best in turning it to the well-being of my family.
Unlike what others affirm, I do NOT want to make my living out of the roulette community. Never had, never will.
I have never taken money from the website, instead have upgraded it in a visible manner, and at my expenses many times to cover at several times.
Those who sponsor know they are very little, it would be insane to try making a living on this little money, and even if I downgraded to a crappy webhosting plan,
you just can't fake a dedicated server's performance, it would show very clearly. And besides, personally I would never do that.
If I succeed with this new online venture, then we move to whatever servers I manage to obtain and won't need any type of ads.
Right now, the forum depends on sponsors and they can be very proud of making this place possible. All the credit to them!
Also, the administrator position stays in good hands. I'm sure Lanky will make a superb job in taking the decisions to lead this board to a fine destination; making what is required to keep the bad guys out and the good roulette debate in.
And hey, remember I'll stay as the forum's IT guy :)
Regards,
Victor
Victor, I'm so very glad to hear that. You sound like you have a grasp of how to continue forward. Also, you have a very balanced grasp of playing roulette while not with an advantage. That's a lot to know. Good luck with all your next achievements.
Mark, roulette-wise I'm seasoned enough to have experienced a wide range of sessions and situations, from the very good where everything goes your way to the very bad ones where you wouldn't catch a hit past many standard deviations of the ideal values and the hit/miss ratio shows very odd.
Basically I have learned to "approach the game as it comes" and not expect the wheel to play my game, but rather to do my best to adapt to what the wheel is playing.
There are no magical patterns that show every time, but there are some consistent "happenings" or "events" you can use as a guide to measure (I.e. a dozen is expected NOT to repeat because of raw probability (2 against, 1 in favor), but when the "repeat dozen" event is "on" it can do repeats heavily and you don't "question" that, nor care about what "should" happen, and learn to never think "it can't repeat again" or similar; you just ride this happening to its fullest extent).
The "art" lies more in spotting these times rather than cracking your brain in finding "the magical pattern", that you will bet everytime and make your way to riches... (Paraphrasing "that guy") Clue & Hint: that "magical pattern" doesn't exist.
Hi Victor
Im sad to see you go.When I came here you answered all my questions and made me feel welcome....I thank you again for that.
Take care of you and yours
TSK
Well sir, I cant say I'm surprised by this. You are a good guy Vic and know your roulette quite well. Very helpful to all members here, you will be missed!! Ken
Hello Vic,
Look's like that it's a sad day x the forum, you did a very hard job keeping the forum up and running all this time, and with a lot of crap recently that you didn't deserve...
But as you have said, family came first, so i wish all the best x you and your family, and i hope that the new admin will have the same honesty, good manners, and common sense that you have shown to the forum in all this time.
Take care
Ivo
Hi Vic,
I fully respect your decision and would like to thank you for all the hard work you've put in toward this forum and the great help you've given to all its members.
I've always appreciated your sense of humour and honesty.
You are a true gentlemen !!!
Big respect.

@ Victor: I am saddened that you are leaving the "captain's chair", but I understand. First things first. The brief time I was here I received top treatment from you, Lanky and Sam. Through it all I'd say it has been a pleasure. The next official leader has big shoes to fill. Thank you.

Hope you find everything you are looking for.

The very best of luck Victor. You have done great things for everyone here.

You have been a wonderfull admin Victor. All the best!
Victor, how did you get such a superior command of English? Its impeccable, very few mistakes, you write better than most Americans and Brits. Surely that must come in handy in a non English speakimg country.
Before turning to I.T. I was supposed to become an English teacher... many moons ago... And I did teach English at the high-school level, but couldn't resist the stress (over here you teach up to 40 students. Very crowded classrooms) and was looking forward to something which -albeit lesser paid- could give me some more freedom.
And you are right; knowing English does help a lot.
Over here if you get your certification from courses you are prepared as a hardware technician; if you do the full informatics career at the university you graduate as a computer programmer, mostly still using programming languages from the late 70's and early 80's (no kidding!).
Unless you become autodidact you don't really stand a chance to cope with modern technologies. So knowing English to me has been a blessing, as the top information for the field is in this language.
Quote from: VLSrouletteusing programming languages from the late 70's and early 80's (no kidding!).
Interesting Victor, although a good many of these so called "dead" languages are still very much in demand. C, Pascal, Lisp are in the top 25 and other dinosaurs like Cobol and Fortran are in the top 50: nolinks://nolinks.tiobe.com/index.php/content/paperinfo/tpci/index.html
It's not surprising that C is still near the top, since a lot of scripting languages (Python, Perl, PHP etc) are written in C, as well as all Operating systems (not to mention embedded systems), you could say it's the mother of all modern programming languages, and it isn't going away anytime soon.
Quoteyou could say it's the mother of all modern programming languages, and it isn't going away anytime soon.
Tangram, you are right.
As for me, my next step is basically to focus in web-based programming only and to go "Flashy" (pun intended) with Flash-based apps.
There is (and always will be) marked for desktop apps, but the ease of use of something you can just deliver over the web and users have it ready without any sort of installs or downloads can't be matched (IMO).
You just code once and it is available for windows, linux and any other flash-enabled platform.
That's the future, that's where I want to focus and where I aim to be...
Quote from: VLSrouletteThat's the future, that's where I want to focus and where I aim to be...
You're probably right Victor. It's on my to-do list to learn CGI programming.
Tangram,
If your application doesn't require direct hardrive access to the user's PC and you want a broader audience, then this is the way to go.
More people will simply visit a webpage to directly use what you can offer.
Online visit VS download & install ratio is clearly biased towards online.
Hello Victor,
I'd like to thank you for everything and wish you good luck.
We'll definitely miss our favourite friendly administrator! ;)
All the best to you and your family.
Regards,
Lupo
