Title: Organized Crime wants me to build an Internet casino for them - I need your help
Post by: MauiSunset on December 28, 2011, 01:32:13 PM
(This is all fiction of course; something fun to do over the holidays)

A good friend of mine is the son of a mafia Don and knows I love Roulette - he asked me to design an Internet casino and the ONLY requirement is for it to generate more money than all the other internet casinos combined.

Additionally the crime syndicate bought a Caribbean island called "Don's World" and there is going to be a 6-star resort which also needs to be the #1 gaming resort in the world.  The Internet and island casinos are to be integrated.

I said "No problem".

(This is where I need your help or I start to lose fingers)

After a lot of thought it occurred to me that I need to cheat.  I decided NOT to hurt the gambler but to help the gambler - I want the reputation of "Dons World" to be known for happy gamblers - winners.  I want lots and lots and lots of happy gamblers spreading the word.

So I've instructed the programmers to use the normal odds tables for all games but to watch for a gambler who is about to loose all his money and help him stay in the game and encourage him to deposit more money to eventually become a "winner".  Lines of credit are to be extended and if you miss a payment a guy named Marco Leatherface will be knocking at your door and will nail your kneecaps to the floor; but I digress.

I also instructed the programmers that all screens will have the super jackpot winners pop up in a corner of the screen to show that folks are making money like crazy.  I want gamblers to randomly be picked for a free vacation to Don's World where the banks there never release a person's name to any government agency under any circumstances.

So what do you think?  Is this the best way for me to make the most money for Don in the long run?

It just seems to me that if a casino is going to cheat it would cheat to help the gambler gamble even more - what do you think?

Thanks for any input........

Haha,

Nice story, I would advice otherwize. Change the table limit to 10.000 I stead of 500 or a 1000

And then I would pay trolls to post stories on every forum that maths does not apply to roulette and that martingale will always win.

The profit of the casino is a percentage of the action (total money bet) the more the people bet, the better.

Oh yes, I would also implement a very simple cheating algorithm:

The probability of the cheating depends on the profit of the gambler. If the algorithm decides to cheat, than then algorithm picks any of the uncovered numbers.

Don doesn't care how I do it - just that he makes more money than all other internet casinos combined.

If that means playing a fair game then so be it.  If it means that I cheat gamblers out of every penny then that's OK too.

It just occurred to me that helping gamblers by cheating in their favor would mean folks would spend more time at Don's World and in the end more money is lost and Don gets more wealthy.

I guess I marvel at how folks believe Don would screw them out of extra chips - the exact opposite seems to make more sense to me.....

True,

The more money is spend, the more Don makes. But as with any business you want a steady flow of income. This implies that minimal volatility will help. I think that this implies either  low table limits and no cheating, or high table limits and cheating.

But if Don takes your advice, then yes, accepting a lesser return in order to fish in a larger pond, is definatly the way to go.
