Hi All,
This is my first post on the forum though I've been avidly reading through it for a while and really its just to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone on here who takes, in alot of cases, an obviously great deal of time to share their knowledge and experience with everyone.
I have been interested in roulette for quite a while but due to incompetance and a lack of any real understanding of the game I've been stung quite badly in the past. That has all changed solely down to the people on here.
Learning from everyone elses knowledge without even a thank you feels just wrong, so once again thanks all. :good:
I hope sometime soon to be able to give something back but as a newbie I'm not sure that I've got anything new to bring as yet.
For what it's worth the way I seem to be having the most luck with is by using the LW's and watching the LD, JD, LC and JCs for a run of 3 L then betting for a W. I put £5 on each of the 2 doz and £1 to cover the 0. If it loses then I leave that run and wait for the next then double for just that next one only then back to the original amount win or lose. Once a win comes after a loss then I'll also double for the next opportunity only. I'm sure none of this is new to anyone as it's made up of different posts that I've read on here really, so thanks to those who've posted the individual elements originally, I'm sure you'll know who you are. I've been playing this way on free play now for a few weeks without any major losses. I plan to do a few weeks more testing before going for real money but it's looking good so far.
Thanks again to all.
Gary.
Thanks Nathan,
You're right, common sense when you put it like that. I just find it so maddening getting caught by the zero. The other 12 all seem so.... anonymous in comparison.
All nonsense I know.
Gary
It is attractive/scary for two reasons:
1. It's green!
2. Some people still cling to the notion that the casino makes its money from the zero.

Nice to here happy stories like your garya. Many of us here are doing quite well. Have you looked into no zero roulette? Then you should be able to do even better.
Garya, stay away from outside bets, or you are guaranteed to loose
regarding outside bets, see nolinks.genuinewinner.com/truth.html (nolinks://nolinks.genuinewinner.com/truth.html) - I cant explain it any clearer than that page. outside bets = an attempt to defy the universe
"Outside bets = an attempt to defy the universe" >> I agree 100%.

Mmmmm. Quite a few heavyweights advising against outside betting. Do you mean all outside bets or just the even chances?
RWD in his book suggests 3 major plays with filler play while waiting for triggers. One of his major plays calls for outside bets (2:1) and in my experience it works well. Unfortunately the plays are too infrequent for my liking and I got bored (hence the filler play). However, those with more patience than I have would probably do very well with this.
I'm not comfortable with the word 'never' when used with bet selections but you all seem to feel very strongly so I will leave it at that! On the other hand, Roy's other two major plays are both inside bets (single number and 4 number bets) so he agrees with you....just not completely!!
My own strategies are heavily influenced by RWD's research, results and conclusions; but I have added an element of 'feel' which I find useful when following his theories concerning cycles and their occurrences and absences. Because of this unscientific and human part, many would say that I don't play a system at all. But my own view is that I do play systems but from time to time modify my bets according to luck at the time, sod's law and what my gut and experience are telling me to do.
Another author who played and recorded every spin at one table day and night (with helpers) for an entire month at the casino in Macao ended up convinced that 'chooseability', as he put it, was the key to successful roulette playing. I seem to have ended up with a mutt or a hybrid of sorts, but hey! you gotta do your own thing.
