Title: Benford's Law
Post by: TwoCatSam on October 12, 2008, 10:32:55 PM
This is from the book, THE DRUNKARD'S WALK.  You will have to scroll down a little to find the page.  Begin reading with the name "Benford" on the second paragraph.  It really gets good with the word "According" in the next graph!

I think you will find this fascinating and quite impossible, but here it is in a book by a mathematician co-authored by Stephen Hawking.  I'll give the next page if anyone wants it.

Comments, please!  But be careful, or I'll make you explain Pascal's Pyramid and that's a booger-bear!

EDIT:  Victor resized it for me!  Thanks Vic...

I've just read the book "Conned Again, Watson" by Colin Bruce.

It's based on Sherlock Holmes, but is more about logic, math and probability than crime.  One of it's stories is based on the frequency of digits.
