As we all now, i'm a bit frustrated by the taxes we have to pay for gambling in the casino here in holland, and we de also now that poker is very hot at the moment.
You cant watch a night of tv now days and there's a poker game on and a lot of people make a loooot of mony nowdays by playing poker, but the thing is that thy also have to pay the same taxes (wich is about 25% now). But,here it comes, they poker players claim they should not pay the gambling tax because its a SKILL GAME in comparison withe the other gambling games like blackjack craps etc and also roulette, in other worths its not gambling.
I don't think there right, you could say the same thing about roulette its also a skill game, when you practice a lot you come beter because you use tactics then just random throw your bets arround the table, but your always depend on how the ball drops, buts its the same with poker your dependend on they hands your getting, that has nothing to do with skill.
Whats your opinion on this one? :-/
Oh Roger!
Roulette can be so many thing for so many people!
- A % game.
- A physical disk with pockets, which no matter if they are letters, the disk-based events are the same.
- Balance/Imbalance game.
- Trends game.
- Game of streaks...
- A Ballistics device which you can only predict on the CURRENT spin while the ball is launched and before it lands, nothing else.
etc. etc. etc.
Certainly for a person it can be a game of skill and for the very next one, a game of pure "wild ass" luck.
...and YOU ARE RIGHT, a genuine game of skill is not dependent on "luck", at all. In poker and every form of gambling, luck is ALWAYS into the playing "mix", so although a form of gambling can be considered a "skill" in a large percentage, as long a it is gambling, it can't be a pure game of skills and hence can't be entirely labelled as such.
