Title: Marven's Columns
Post by: Marven on January 01, 2009, 01:16:43 AM
Hello brainstormers,

Here is an idea I came up with when I was in the WC today.
It's an idea for playing the columns that you might want to build on.

It goes like this:

Rules:

We look at the last 5 columns spun and place 1 more unit on the dominant column (the one that showed the most).

If our dominant column wins, we add 1 more unit to it. If it looses, we remove 1 unit from it.

Whenever we get a new dominant dozen, we add 1 unit to it, and remove one unit from the one that lost, and so on.

If we have no dominant column (e.g. 3,1,1,2,2), we look at the last 4 spun columns instead of 5. If we still have no dominant column within those last 4, we look at the last 3 instead.

Example:
Let's say the last 5 spun columns are: 2,1,1,2,2
We put 1 unit on the 2nd column.

Say the next column we get is 1:
Firstly we remove 1 unit from the 2nd column since it lost.
So we have: 1,1,2,2,1  We place one unit on the 1st column.

1 wins, we place two units on 1.
2 wins, we remove 1 unit from the 1st column, and place 1 unit on the 2nd column (new dominant), and so on...

Regards,
Marven

I haven't tried this (I'm busy with other things) but I wanted to share the idea.

Here is one golden tip:

This bet selection is sensible to streaks. So you better play it when you see lots of streaks on the columns (more than expected), and you better lower your unit size or don't bet at all when you see no streaks (i.e. the columns coming out in a somehow regular fashion).

Feel free to test, tweak, improve, or throw this away. :)

Cheers,
Marven
