Dear all,
I live in India where Casinos are not permitted by the law. There is only one City called Goa where Casinos exist that too not on land but on ships and boats very close to land ..on the river..
Goa is a beach destination and very popular for tourism. The entire economy of Goa survives on tourism. Every year during Season time (October to march) thousands of american/european people throng to the sunny beaches of goa for a good tan, some drinks, lots of partying and basically a great time.. Goa pre dominantly has a portugese influence and has many many beautiful churches..
Some of the beaches like Baga/Calangute are the main attractions which are very busy..
I am a Salsa Dance teacher by profession and during the last two weeks of the new year i close shop because thats when most people travel and do not attend the class regularly..
So during this christmas and new year vacation i decided to go to GOA and play at the casinos.. i have done it once before but this time i wanted to do it with a vengeance.. 10 Days..ONLY casino.. believe it or not on 31dec 2008 at the stroke of 12 midnight i was betting 50 dollars on one hand of a blackjack game.. :D which i incidently won
Well my trip started on 25th of dec when i landed in Goa by flight from mumbai in the afternoon.. i rested for an hour or so and then headed straight for the casino which opened at about 6.30 pm.. I pleyed at the same casino every day for ten days straight.. it is a casino called Casino Pride.. the reason i liked this place is because of the low entrance fee (10$) which includes all drinks/dinner/ snacks/ cigarettes all thru the whole night and it is the largest vessel with the most number of tables.. the staff is polite and it is an overall nice place.. not snooty..it is open everyday from 6 pm to 5 am..
so i headed straight for the roulette table and started playing some line bets.. because i was with a friend i couldnt play any complicated long strategies..it was just fun money and quick games.. i bet on lines/ dozens/ columns/ streets/ red/ black/ even .. everything.. it was a fun game .. but the roulette tables there were very crowded and very slow.. so we moved to cards games.. we played a game called casino war.. its basically a one card game where u get a card , dealer gets a card and the higher card wins.. betting on two boxes has a considerable chance of winning..
i later moved on to blackjack, a game i am reasonably good at.. Blackjack is the game i played for most of my trip.. i also did some baccarat.. won some money there.. lost some..
blackjack is basically a team game
most of the time the tables were very crowded and despite me playing 2 boxes or more, there would always be some idiot making a bonehead decision and screwing up the game.. but all in all.. there were some very sweet winning streaks and some very infuriating losing ones
Every night went more or less like that.. i would enter the casino at 6 pm.. play all night and leave at 5 am.. sleep at 6 am.. wake up around 2 or 3 pm.. watch tv, laze, shower changer and casino time again :)
and i did this for 10 days straight.. from 25th dec to 4 jan :) i had become a maniac.. on the last day ie the night of 3rd jan i played from 6 pm to 5 am .. then moved to another casino and played there from 5 am to 12 pm (4th jan) this was a smaller casino and i had some really good hands there.. but after 8 am many other ppl joined which screwed up my mind and the game and i lost some.. this place is called kings casino.. so basically i played from 6 pm on 3rd jan to 12 pm on 4th jan.. 18 hours straight.. and took a flight back at 1.30 pm :)
Whats my bankroll ? well i think i lost around 600-700 dollars over the whole trip :-\
but yeah this has been my longest maniacal trip which had its great moments

Good to hear from you. Thank you for that bit of honesty! Not many would say they lost. Most everyone breaks even, whatever that is.
We are remodeling out house. The dust is horrible and the work is never ending. It's actually moving--from one end of your house to the other and then back again. Our hardwood floors look very nice, but every speck of dust and every scratch shows. Carpet on Wednesday. Why am I telling you this? I have had little time to play, but take a look at my testing thread for the G.U.T.

hardwood floors are very tempting for dancers ::) ..especially ones which are not brand new.. they have more character to it..
i can almost imagine them now .. hee hee..
how is your wife and grandson ? love to them and you

Hi Andy,
Good to see you back. I hope you enjoyed your trip, that's the most important. Sorry that you lost the money, when I used to go on vacation in the summer I used to spent 3x that amount on fun, drinks and clubs. If you lose in a casino or spent in a disco, it comes to the same. I hope you had great days.

oh yes it was great fun..
but the one thing that i markedly noticed was that i could apply all my concepts in blackjack and did reasonably ok..but at the roulette table i forgot everything.. i made stupid mistakes.. got impatient..couldnt follow basic strategies, and didnt do well with my bet selection.. all in all my roulette game i was not proud of..they had a single zero wheel and the minimum bet on inside bets was 1 $ and outside bet was 10$.. is that too high ??
