Today I demanded DEALERSIGNATURE take down his avatar. It would appear he has deleted all his threads or some moderator has. I had the pleasure of deleting one.
In his e-mail to me, he pointed out there are bare-naked asses used as avatars. Yes, there are. Bare breasts and asses were painted by the old masters hundreds of years ago. The human body, properly displayed, is not offensive.
This shaking hand could have been a hand at the craps table, but was it? When you hear hoof beats behind you do you think zebras or horses? The question is where do we draw the line. Or rather--where do I draw the line?
What should we allow? Anyone know what "scat" is? Want to see pictures of people crapping or pissing on each other? What about women being whipped or in bondage? Full intercourse with the facial shot? How about a little kiddie porn for the truly sick?
One person complained about the avatar. One is enough.
I would not say an avatar should be roulette-related. I do say it should be tasteful.
I do not like being a censor and I truly wish I never had to be, but it seems I do. I cannot sit idly by and do nothing and have the title CO-ADMINISTRATOR after my name. Feel free to criticize as much as you care to. I have agonized over this decision all day. Believe me, it did not come easy.

I agree that the line has to be drawn somewhere. But if the aforementioned's avatar is considered offensive then in my opionion there are a few other avatars on the website that should also be taken off.
The avatar, really, wasn't THAT bad. But if people complain about it then it must be taking down.

I hear ya.
To be honest, the avatar was a bit strange to me (not in a good or amusing way).
But there you go. These things could happen anytime in an open forum.
I really appreciate your openness and willingness to ask for the opinions of us, normal members, regarding such controversial issues.
In my opinion, where the line must be drawn is to be determined by THAT kind of consideration of what other members might think.
So as the guys said, if one member complained, then chances are that others might be annoyed by it as well. So I guess it's no big deal if the avatar is changed. :) (unless the avatar's owner takes it personally, which is not your problem/fault as an administrator)
