Dear Friends

On Tuesday of this week, Marcia visited her family physician who said to go immediately to the hospital and check in.  He would call and they would expect her.

I will not go into the whole story as most of it is a hopes-up/hopes-down situation.  To cut to the chase she has a one and a half inch thing in her lower colon.  It is now called a polyp as they don't know if it's a cancer until they take it out and biopsy it.  Sunday morning, February 8th, she will undergo surgery to have the thing removed.  They cut out as much of the colon as necessary and either put in a colostomy bag or stitch the colon back together and close her.  If they put on the colostomy bag, they will go in at a later time and reattach the colon.

Her father and husband (before me) both died with colon cancer so she is--quite naturaly--terrified.  They were to do the surgery today, but because of her stroke four years ago she has atrial fibrillation--an erratic and fast heartbeat--and she could not go under anesthetic. 

So when you get a chance, send up a prayer or a good wish for Marcia. 

You understand, the next few weeks are going to be a little rough around TwoCat Manor.  Her children are going to spell me from time to time.  I will get back to my life and my studies and my play as soon as possible.

If you're 50 or close to it, go get a colonoscopy!  It can save your life!!  I've had three.  If I can stand it, you can, too!

Also on the sad note, my dad's best friend whom we were very close with died yesterday due to cancer. It's a terrible, terrible thing.

Thanks for your prayers and well wishes.

Marcia had surgery today and a foot of colon was removed and sent to the lab.  We will know sometime around Wednesday if it is cancerous or just a polyp.

You should see the people camped in this huge waiting room.  They have their food, pillows, snuggies and baskets of food.  I expect someone to break out the charcoaler any minute and cook burgers.   Some have been here for days!

This hospital furnishes free WiFi so computers are the norm. 

I may even play the G.U.T. tonight!!

It was cancer but it was contained within the colon wall and the surgery was the cure.  No chemo......

She should be home within a few days and riding my about remodeling the old digs, as usual.

Just heard of a bad tornado in Oklahoma, hope all is well Sam.

All.....

Eight people are dead in a small southern town.  Destruction is incredible.

At the hospital, I could look out the fourth floor window and see the flashes of the transformers exploding as the poles fell.  We moved into the halls of the hospital and waited for it to pass.  Then we moved back and a second one came.  To the halls again. 

The tornado hit the ground a few miles before us and a few miles after us, but it spared the hospital.  Homes costing $3,000,000.00 were torn apart just north of us.  The news did not say if any of them were owned by roulette players.

Just hope everyone is well. Like losing a martingale, we can only really relate to it when we are part of the tiny percentage who gets screwed. Just hope we can stay with the odds at our favor... (but still feel sorry for those suffering it).
