I played on my first low profile wheel last weekend at Tropicana in Atlantic City. I observed two tables for nearly an hour and it seem to me that numbers repeating seem to occur much less than with classic wheels. Do you think this was just a fluk or is this a fact?
This one is for you HERB! :)
It's probably just your perception of randomness.
I actually prefer the lower profile wheels.
Do you by chance live near AC?

What's so special about this place Herb ? You would not prefer CA instead ?
Hi Matilda Here,
These low profile wheels can you tell me what the difference is to other wheels.
Reason am asking is because here in Australia they are starting to change the wheels again for the 3rd time in 22 years. The new ones have much smaller frets.
Ball is able to run around the wheel a lot more revolutions especially if dealer spins fast.
Not saying if its good or bad. Haven't tried it yet we have only got one in the high rollers.
Love some info.
Thanks Mate

As I recall, the wheels in the Tropicana were all Huxley Mark 4s and Mark 5s. There was one wheel that was a Borgourne wheel (mispelled I'm sure). The wheels are actually rather old. My last visit to the Tropicana in AC was about last May, 2007.
Regarding the low profiles. I have always liked the low profiles more than the very old high fret wheels.
The reason is because the ball scatter is much greater. The ball is "trying" on more numbers each spin.
Regarding the new wheels in Aussie. What kind of wheels are you seeing? Go to the TCSHuxely website and look at the different wheels to see if you can find the wheels. If you don't see the wheels there, then check the Cammegh website.

Arteinvivo,
I don't think CA has roulette.
Wy the wanna chance the wheels by the way, are the worn out or did the players win to much money from the casino? ;)

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS-
Most of the wheels are low profile today some with continuous no fret number brass pocket ring.
I found old high profile wheels at the old Sands, Stardust, Rivera, Tropicana and even recently at Treasure Island. before they up graded to low profile wheels for the increased scatter effect. The old Huxley's high profile with deep pockets were perfect both for VB wheel clockers and for aiming house dealers also. For example these wheels were placed almost at the entrance of the TI to snare many arriving unsuspecting visitors. Talented & trained dealers could clean a table full of the overeager beavers in 20 minutes flat. Anyway I could counter play & get in maybe 2 or 3 wins covering the zero/neighbors and then I would have to scoot as they would shift to 9 & 3 o'clock target sectors. ;)
The Whel is always Spinning,

In answer to Rogers question as to why they put them in here at the Gold Coast Jupiters is because we seriously had some guys over the years (Jupiters) is 22 years old and was taken over by a company that handles all the tab (electronic horse racing) because they are so involved in horses win lose or draw they are guaranteed 4% return.
They like it that way too.
Hiltons used to own our casino years ago and everybody made a lot more money.
This new mob are making everything electronic. We have what is called Vegas Star which is computerised roulette ( no dealer) but they guarantee same percentage 2.7%. Within the next 1 year we will have the same with baccarat and black jack.
By law we have to have live tables but they are able to cut down on live ones and therefore effectively cut staff down. These do not require any staff.
With the new low profile wheels we had 4 players who did very well over the years. I personally know all 4. His speciality was wheel bias. Did a great job too. I know this to be the reason our wheels are being changed. Apparently these are more accurately balanced cutting down on wheel bias clockers.
They put these in what is called the "Mahogany Room" in Melbournes Crown Casino. High Rollers room and because they put up such a stink the casino replaced it with old wheels. I was told this but it is second hand news. It could be true because Crown is owned by a different operator.
Waltzing Matilda
:-*
Matilda.
Sorry guys
The guys that did well did it on the old wheels not the new low profile wheels.
Didn't have my glasses on when typing and got jumbled.
Cheers
