Title: U.S. Online Gambling - Please Help
Post by: JC StyLEE on April 02, 2009, 05:57:05 PM
I've been having a debate with a friend of mine.
Is it legal for U.S. players to play at online casinos?

I know it passed in 2006 as being illegal, but are there loopholes...ways around it?

Please let me know if you have any first-hand experience.

Thanks!

JC

I'm an American.  I can play at three casinos because I was there before November of 08.  For some reason Microgaming outlawed Americans at that time.  I can still play but new players are not accepted.

I have spoken to two of the casinos and both tell me the exact same story.

Patience!  Barney Burger....er Barney Frank is going to introduce a bill to eliminate the law.

Yeah there was a Gambling Act passed by George W. in 2006 prohibiting banks or credit companies from allowing wire transfers from online casinos or from cashing checks from online casinos.

It's NOT illegal for U.S. citizens to gamble at online casinos, though...only illegal for the banks and CC companies.

I think the government is looking for a way to tax us on revenue made from gambling.  That was/is the plan.

There are third parties (companies) who found loopholes to aide us in getting around this predicament.
Just thought I'd update this post for anyone who needs to know.

I really hope they repeal it.  It's such a pain in the ass.
