I did not follow the forum while away. I see the same old fights are still going on. What round is it? 100? 200?
I seriously doubt I will ever catch up and read all the stuff that was written while I was away. If anyone has a beef with me, wants my humble opinion or whatever, better PM me as I did try to answer all those. I'll surely answer them now.
Watch for the photos in the next couple of days. I took about 300, so just imagine what I could do! I won't turn this into a travel forum, but I did drive 5,625 miles.

I am going to attach two photos. These were taken at the north end of Main in Las Vegas. I don't know if these are people who lost it all or those who lost their jobs due to the economy. This is very sad and seeing it first hand was even sadder.
I do not post these pictures so that we may enjoy the misery of our fellow man, but that we might work to avoid their circumstance. "There, but for the grace of God, go I."

Those tents are the homeless people of Las Vegas. They are living on the concrete sidewalks and being fed by the Salvation Army and others. This is within a few miles of the opulence of the "Strip" and its billion-dollar casinos. When Marcia and I saw this, we decided to cut our vacation short and come home.
I am not making a political statement, I just want people to think before they bet that $100 on red. We gamblers must realize we stand on a slippery slope. Methinks I have preached too much.

Yes, I can post more pictures but they are just more of the same. There are perhaps fifty tents in a two-block area. There are old mattresses with people lying on them. Fortunately I did not see any children.
This area is probably two miles from the Strip and I'm sure the powers in Vegas will keep it there. We only found it by accident as we were looking for the way to the Stratosphere and the head of the Strip.
On another note, in San Francisco right outside our Holiday Inn there was a park with people sleeping in blankets during the day. They had to leave at 10:00 pm and I have no idea where they went.
So yes, it happens in every big city. It just really struck me hard in Vegas as one couldn't help but wonder if some of those people had lost it all at the craps table.

Just heard the dj (Dj's) of a life time.
Some of the best danseable music i've evr witnessed.
It was Like a mix of the best oldies from the 1930's & 40's, And modern day House/Electro Music.
On top it was accompanied with a group of professional 'Jidabug' (don't know if it's spelled right) dancers,
dancing like there was no tomorrow, amongst us others on the midlle on the dancefloor.
It was GREAT i tell ya!

Thanks! There were a couple of times I was puckered! We almost got hit by a rented RV and I'll bet the guy driving had never driven anything that big before. Going up the mountains in California is a treat, but there is absolutely nothing between you and a thousand-foot roll down a mountain--no barriers, not even a curb. Coming down can be worse! Your brakes burn and stink. I learned to put the van in 2nd gear and ride the emergency brake so the back brakes took the heat and the front ones cooled. I would alternate.
For the most part, California has very considerate drivers. Every Oklahoman should drive there once or twice to learn how it's really done! There, when you signal to change lanes they let you in. Here, they speed up to "protect their territory" so to speak.
