Title: reviving the law of the third
Post by: suitcase charlie on May 31, 2010, 05:36:41 PM
This section seems to have died a death.  I really think that there has to be a way to win consistently using the law of the third.  Despite knowing that roulette is a random game, it is also known that roughly 13 numbers will repeat in any given 37 spin cycle.  Surely something can be found to take advantage of that more often than not and come away with a small but regular profit.

Here's some more useful information. One third of those 13 numbers that repeated in the first 37 spins will repeat in the next 37 spins. And dig this. In 300 to 450 spins at least three of them will hit far more than average. But six numbers will tend to hit above average too. I would try to figure out a bet strategy on the next 37 spins after the first set of 37 shows the 13. But get this, if only 4 of the 1/3 repeat in the next 37 then you have nine numbers that won't hit plus all the others that hit once in the first 37. It's just that two thirds of them will hit in the next 37. So one third of the numbers that hit once in the first 37 will not hit in the second 37. There, that clears that up.

the failure is that only 9 to 10 repeat in 37 spins
13 will appear only once

The right statistic is:

13 to 14 will not appear

13 to 14 will appear once
9 to 10 will appear more than once

next problem:

this statistic will appear only in 1/3 of all  possible outcomes

Thank you Gizmotron and Winkel for the added information.
It is a tricky one indeed.
