KY Declares War on 'Net Bets
Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear is taking on Internet gambling, in a frontal assault launched from a Franklin County courtroom. Beshear obtained a judge's order that transfers ownership of 141 domain names, citing the "tremendous threat" posed to Bluegrass State citizens by Internet betting sites. "It's an underworld wrought with scams and schemes," Beshear intoned. More to the point, perhaps, Beshear complained that Kentucky was losing millions of dollars per year that might otherwise be spent at Kentucky's horse tracks.
