I was thinking today more about how the VB guys play roulette.
So let's assume Mr VB guy is at the casino doing his stuff and he is covering 18 inside numbers on almost every spin.
Where I would like to go with this is looking at the 19 numbers that he is not covering. These 19 numbers are going to change more or less on a spin to spin basis. They do not have to be particularly "cold" or "hot" numbers for that matter. Basically he is trying to stay one step ahead of the game.
Now let's look at Mr Mechanical, suppose he goes up to the same wheel and charts for a while and then decides to bet the "hottest" 18 numbers and leaves out the other 19 and sticks to this plan throughout. Now is this guy trying to stay one step ahead of the game or his he stuck if it all starts to go wrong. To me, it would be like a golfer going around a course with just one club, if he continues to shoot 10 feet over the green, there is not a lot he can do about it. The VB golfer may have an array of clubs at his disposal and can change at any given time.
So instead of thinking about finding that one winning number, maybe it would be a good idea to concentrate on looking at the numbers that you don't think are going to come out. Obviously you can't use any form of gamblers fallacy in determining what these missing numbers could be. So how are you going to go about it?

With only one club you can somewhat alter the distance of your shots by placing the ball further back or further forward in your stance. :)
