Surrender Option

Many ppl view surrender as a "sissy" or "pussy" option where it actually hurts their ego.. and the thought is that "why should i surrender ? i will war it and beat the dealer"

That is the worst way to go about - to have a ego problem about surrender. Surrender is one of the best options that blackjack offers.. to exit losing just half ur money and staying alive to bet again.. One should DEFINITELY use to to ones advantage but of course at the right time

so when should one use surrender ?

16 for player against a 10/9/8/7  for dealer. SURRENDER always. NO thinking required. You may have won some of these hands had u not surrendered but in the long run, the number of losing hands will be more hence depleting ur bankroll. always surrender on a 16 against a 7 up

15 for player .. this is also a surrender against a dealer face card or high card. there are of course exceptions to this.. if u are a card counter and the card count is negative, it means that there are many small cards in the deck.. plus if your 15 is made up of a 8 and a 7, then do not surrender. Just hit it. if the deck is not heavy chances are u will get a small card. the only two small cards that can bust u are 7 and 8 which have already been drawn.. hence the card u r looking for is 5/6 which could very easily be the outcome.

14 could be surrended, depending on the dealers card and if the deck is too heavy indicating a high card on its way..

This was a good post but i just wanted to say you should not surrender 16 against a 7 and 8. Even when you are counting i think the count would have to be like a +8 or higher to surrender against a 7. I have been out of the game for the past 4 months but i studied the basic strategy chart with several index plays for counting. You should surrender 16 against an 8 if the true count is a +4 or higher. It gets really complicated when counting but if you are a basic strategy player just surrender 16 against a 9,10,ace. that's going by the book. and 15 against a 10. I had to pull out my strategy chart since i am pretty rusty ha.
