[size=12]Hi ladies and gentlemen,

I decided to open this poll in order to measure the perception some players have regarding subjective systems versus mechanical systems.

Make your bet. Everyone is welcome to participate.[/size]

The easiest way to answer is to ask this question : have you ever looked into the eyes of a beautifull woman ? What\'s going on inside you at that very moment is subjective  [smiley=kiss.gif] but using a mechanical system you would need to measure if she shows this curve 36-24-36 to react. See the difference ?

With a subjective system you make one with the stream of datas and learn to appreciate its dance and, if you are gifted enough, even dance in perfect accord with it.

Is the outcome of roulette subjective or mechanical?  [smiley=Santa001.gif] [smiley=Santa001.gif] [smiley=Santa001.gif] [smiley=Santa001.gif]

It can be BOTH Spike.

If you only consider the raw number spun, then it is mechanical. But if you assign a special meaning to it, then the meaning is as subjective as what you attach to the number: i.e. a "lose" or a "win" for a particular system or bet selection; starting or ending a sequence of numerical events used as a signal to start or stop betting, etc.

Yes. It can be BOTH.  [smiley=wink.gif]

Actually, the outcome of roulette is always from a mechanical source. A wheel, an RNG, even drawing the numbers out of your pocket, its all mechanical. Thats why everybody erroneously thinks it can only be beaten by a mechanical system. Arte is being one advocate for the Subjective, non-100%-mechanical, way to play. For sure there are others...

Cheers.

Even in a Subjective way, you will set up a fix set of rules in your brain, so it becomes mechanical. The only difference, is that you will use either one rule or the other, depending what is going on in the game, nothing that you cant writte donw though.

Subjective = mechanical

It's not rules in themselves which cause problems but who or what drives the hand placing the bet. Only a human brain can appreciate the dance executed by the duo Red and Black. Put the human out of the loop and i'll be able to predict the end results. Put the human at the center of activity and i won't be able to predict the end results. See the difference ?

Subjective = Intelligence and sensibility

I'm thinking that success comes from neither "Subjective," "taking place within the mind and modified by individual bias," or "Mechanical," we all know what that is, rule based," but from the "objective."

Objective: "undistorted by emotion or personal bias; based on observable phenomena."

Arteinvivo

Objective: "undistorted by emotion or personal bias; based on observable phenomena."

Nice in theory but impossible for a normal human being.

"Outside here the followers of creeds
Place their confidence in views.
I don't approve of their teachings;
They are not skilled in the Dhamma.

"The Dhamma, the truth taught by the Buddha, unfolds gradually. The Buddha made clear many times that Awakening does not occur like a bolt out of the blue to ..."

That's a funny quote about the Buddha, excluding the outsider's views for the skilled views of another. What part of an empty cup does that come from?

I find it a human failing to follow the evidence of your own self realization based on your own experiences having not considered that your understanding might be seen by others as more subjective and less objective. This level of understanding comes from life experience and is shown in the character of each of us. To declare it as impossible for a normal human being only leads me to believe that you must have many things to see in life yet to come.

Maybe, i don't understand your point as your thoughts are not as clear as you would like them to be. Try to make yourself clear then i'll try to give you a clear and direct answer. If your thoughts are fuzzy thus will be my replies. If your thoughts are off-target thus will be my replies. If your thoughts are unclear thus will be my replies.

Edgardo
