Interesting Question

I have a question for you guys.   I was talking to a niece the other day who is a big time slot machine player.   She gets a lot of free rooms and meals from casinos.   She knows how I like roulette and she said she talked to a guy the last time she was at a casino that only played roulette.   

They were having small talk and he told her the best way to win at roulette is to buy the dealer (croupier).   He told her he plays all the numbers around the zeros (American Roulette of course) and offers the dealer half of his winnings every time he can hit either zero.    I don't know how many dealers can actually hit the zero in so many spins and when they swap dealers the current dealer would inform the dealer coming on.   She told me that the guy holds true to his word and splits his winnings but he only wins around 24 or 25 hundred and he quits and walks away, approximately $1200 apiece.   

She said the guy told her that he goes to different casinos each week and wouldn't go back to the same one for 2 or 3 months, but a lot of the dealers already know him. 

My question(s) is:  Do you think a dealer would really do such a thing if offered half the winnings from a player?  Wouldn't the Pit Boss notice and step in and stop it?  And after being away from a casino in 2 or 3 months would the dealer even remember or recognize you?  I guess it would be perfectly legal.  Would any of this make sense?  Could a dealer (not to mention multiple dealers) really be bought out like that?  There may be some truth to it and I don't want to call him (whoever he is) or my niece a liar,  but I really have my doubts.    What do you think?
