100$ BR - how far can you get?

Hey gang,

I've started a little project and thought I would share it with you all (if anyone is interested).  I'm currently coaching my cousin in poker and have given him a small bankroll of 100$ to play with online.

What the plan is is to teach him Money Management.  But it got me thinking, "I wonder how far 100$ can get me?"  - Ideally as far as I want.  So I put a little challenge out to a couple poker buddies to see who can last the longest/win the most.

If anyone wants, I'll periodically post my results here.  Strictly sit n' goes.  We can play any limit, but they gotta be sit n' go.

Cheers,
Matt

PS - currently I'm sitting at 178$

I'll post entire results when/if I get to 200$

sounds great fun :D Only issue is have you set level playing ground? ie its much easier to win at party poker if you know what to look for. . .

MattyMattz

we all play at Pokerstars.

Cheers,
Matt

just hit the 200$ mark, so I have doubled my bankroll.  I use a progression in buy-ins to help recoup after a couple losses.  I always seemed to win when playing bigger buy-ins (always a nice break).

Do u find you're changing your game as ur progression goes higher Matty?

Regards

Clint

MattyMattz

good question Clint,

although I'd say no, there probably is a bit of change (more tight playing).  I do believe overall it's very similiar.  With the SNG's style, it's all about patient play.

Cheers,
Matt

LOL Matt,

I started with a $200 BR a few months back and its now $10,000.

I like your strategy, once thing though, I see you have not lost when you play a $16 game, what would you do next if you lost a $16 game? Play a $30 or something???

Your right patience is key on SNG's. But I play heads up and I cant just keep folding or I would never get called when I raise.

Cheers
D

MattyMattz

Hey D,

Head's up is a totally different game and your right, you can't just sit around and wait for good hands.  My tips were for SNG's.

If I lost a 16$ game, I would keep playing at that level until I lost 3 games, then up it to around the 30$ level.  I play in stages.

I haven't played since hitting the 200 mark, but hopefully next week I'll get a couple games in.

Cheers,
Matt

Diarmaid

Matt,  have been playing your way with great success. Far less stressfull than my HU way. :)

I suppose the only difference is I play 3 at a time, its easy to multi table 9 player tables.

Happy days   :yahoo:

MattyMattz

hey D, good to hear.  Yeah I often multitable at the lower limits.

To anyone interested,

I have now passed the 300$ mark.  I will post the results and a rundown later today.
