LOL, I tried a few more of them 18 seaters and lost 6 in a row.

Think i'll stick to my heads up games, made thousands for them before.

Taking a liking to them 4 player heads up matches. 4-1 for your moneys and the progression used can me far less aggressive.

Gona start with a $100 BR and see if I can turn it into $1000.

Cheers

Hey diarmid.

How do you play your heads up games?  Meaning if you lose one you play anotehr and if you lose that one as well do you move up the stakes a notch?

What is your stop loss for heads up play.

Thanks

Diarmaid

I normally use a progression

1,1,2,4,8  OR  1,2,3,6,12  depending on the site and the buyin's available.

So I would have to lose 5 in a row to lose a lot.
I would play the standard ones, as the turbos's have higher variance for me and losing 5 in a row would be more common.

With the 4 player HU games I use a 1,1,1,1,2,4,8 progression

At the moment, I am playing the 9 player games and I use the following 8 game progression 1,1,2,2,4,4,6,6

For all of these methods I keep my bankroll at 5 times the total orf a full progression

Cheers

Here my results from yesterday and today. I am starting out with a $750 BR and a target of $50-$100 a day.
This shows about $100 profit. As soon as my BR is $1500 I will increase my base buyin from $5.50  to $11.

the furthest into the progression I went was to the 5th step and that was only once. Not bad since the progression is 8 steps.
Never even a bead of sweat from my forehead.   :spiteful:

Thanks Matt,

I like the progression I'm using, more aggressive than yours but when you get a 1st place you are almost always left in profit.

I'm playing 2 progressions simultaneously now, takes half the time to reach target.  :spiteful:

Cheers

Nice D, I may try something similar as I'm really enjoying multi tabling lately.

(PS - went on a bender yesterday at a live game and lost 3G.... damn.  Stick to the rules right!)

Yea, I know what you mean. I was playing today, I went to the 7th step of my progression once and if I only had played properly it would never have happened. 2 previous games to the 7th I was over 4k in chips and didnt cash, now thats just stupid unnecessary gambling, when I should have had priority to cash in.

I think I have learned from it though. Hopefully.

Thats happened me before too in a live game, I was pissed drunk and when I opened my eyes the next morning I was not a happy camper.

Drink and Poker dont mix well.

Nice one, I like the turbos more as well... quicker, which works good for this progression.

Well done Matty and Diarmaid. Personally this is my favourite post in this forum.

Has opened my eyes to the progression concept quite a bit. Turbo's are too quick for me though.

Man it's one thing being able to play decent poker but having the discipline to keep to your plan is sooooooooooooooo hard.  How do I get pass this?

I'll start by playing a few sit and go's and then somehow always manage to wonder off playing a cash game here and there and PLO and puff the bankroll gets hit.  Any advice?

:-*

MattyMattz

anytime you catch yourself wandering off the game plan, shut it down - for the day - or even a couple days.
Worked for me!

If you want to take your poker seriously, make a spreadsheet with a plan, daily/monthly targets and so on.

Then stick to this like its your bible, discipline is Key in poker. In time you should do well if you are any good.

Just an update.

My Bankroll is now at $1500, I had one progression loss in the past few days and I earned the last $200 playing heads up.

I have to say I find HU more profitable, maybe its my style I don't know, but I would be profiting even flatbetting stakes when playing heads up.

I'm now using a variation of the divisor plan for my heads up play.

I'll let you know when I have reached $5000

Cheers
