This is probably a stupid question but can a player make a bet that has a dollar chip added on. For instance If i am playing at a 25 dollar table, can I make a 28 dollar bet?

When I played live for the first time yesterday in Atlantic city I didn't see any bets with dollar chips. I hope that makes sense...I am basically asking if I can add the dollar chips to a 25 dollar chip.

Thanks

I don`t think it`s customary to add $ 1 chip to a 25 Dollar chip. If banker wins you might find yourself paying   commission as if it had been a  $ 30 bet.

Off amounts  are great but as  you can see not adviseable as  I have pointed out .  Nothing wrong adding $ 5 to the the  base  amount instead of going in full increments of $ 25. Incorporating  off amounts  $ 5  , 10, 15 are a good  MM strategy.

Most casinos at different times, even different dealers, have different rules for that.  In my experience, most dealers outside of Vegas won't accept odd-banker bets. (I've tried a few times, only to have it shoved back. And i once saw a dealer who would do it for one player but not another, go figure.)

Here's an excerpt from (9 on) the GG,

Actually, there are several $1.00 bac tables in vegas that I know of. At the Elcortez and also
at the South pointe, you can bet $6 on Player and $5 on banker at the same time, making your net bet $1.00. Of course, after paying the 50 cents (25 cents for the $5 bet and 25 cents for the $1 bets combined, you win 50 cents if your bet on the bank wins. If you bet $6 on player and $5 on banker and player wins, you win $1 net on your player bet. As far as I know, these are the only 2 casinos that allow this play but several others will allow you to bet $1 in addition to the minimum. So with a $10 min table and a partner, one partner can play $10 on player and the other partner can bet $11 or $12 or $13, etc. on banker, effectively making your net bets $1, $2 or whatever you chose to make them. Not all casinos will allow other than $5 incriments but you can find them. Not a brilliant way to play. but, this way of playing is available for those short on a bankroll.
