If Victor does start a thread about this, we sould start discussing the parameters/rules on how this competition will be played.  The sooner we hash out the rules and stuff, the better, I think!

I think this is a good idea. However, Jakk, I doubt that 100 people are going to want to compete with their systems. But I would be willing to say that there might be 100 people that would contribute a certain amount of money to buy "shares" in the group in order to receive dividends.

If that were the case, you would need to take the the total amount of money in the fund, after "dividends" have been paid divided by the number of shares to get a share value. Then, you would allow investors to buy shares in the fund before play commences again for that week. Does that make sense?

For instance, let's say that 100 people invest $100 each for a total of $10,000. The top three play their systems and make $2,000 for the week ended Sat**day. That's $12,000 total with 100 shares. You would either: (a) disburse the $20 per share to each member and start back at $10,000 for $100 per share and open it up to new investors through Sunday (no play again until Monday); or (b) you take the $12,000 and divide by 100 shares to get $120 per share and open it up to new investors.

This way, everyone's shares are equal so that you don't have to worry about any weighted average prices/payouts, etc. But this would be after you established a routine payout schedule (either weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc.)

Just something to think about, as people get a little funny with money. I think that this could work very well, and a lot of people could make some good money from it, but there needs to be something VERY specific about it so that there are no grey areas.

Well put cps,
I think another thing we would have to include is some sort of disclaimer for the winners stating that IF they do lose monies, they can't be held responsible... something along those lines... not that they will lose of course!  ;)

Excellent comment though!

 ;) Hey Cps,

Yeah 100 guys playing agaisnt each other will first of all take forever! We would still have to play of say +/-10 guys to get the 3 top guns. I do agree though with you that a share system would work better.  8-)

Hope we can get this thing started! ;D

Cheers!

I would certainly participate and invest assuming the appropriate safeguards were put into place. I would be glad to be the Share Registrar if ever there needed to be something like that. Or assist in calculations and whatnot once the framework was put into place.

And of course, there would have to be disclaimers. Everyone knows that it's gambling...but just to be sure, if you are to send money, you know there is a risk, even with the best players on earth playing for you.

Quoteeven with the best players on earth playing for you.

LOL - now I know you're not talking about me!!! :'(

(I have a funny feeling Ray will speak up... lol)
