Hi all!

I recently made a two day weekend trip to the only town in my country where casinos are legal (goa) and played blackjack for 30 straight hours. This trip was especially important to me as this was the first time i have walked out of the casino having made money.. i made around 400 $ .. not much considering what i have lost , but its important cause this time i won  :yahoo:.. and yes i accept i have been a loser all this while. not won ever.

would like to share a few things with you guys about my experience and the game..

1. though i consider myself a fairly good blackjack player i had until this time not been able to make money out of it. some of the reasons were compulsive betting, losing ones head and making bonehead bets like mini-martingale hence losing much more, and not being able to "smell" and accept a bad shoe and stay away

2. But this time i surprised myself. Before entering the casino and all through the flight etc, i was telling myself how i will play and this time i stuck to it. There was one particular shoe where i could see that it wasnt going right. i was on a negative streak. for eg i had two hands - one a blackjack and the other a 21 - against a dealer 6. and just when i thought all was good, the dealer drew a 21. then i had two hand where i had blackjack against a dealer 10. and the dealer drew a blackjack. i stayed away from the rest of the shoe and watched and sure enough - everyone else playing lost miserably while i watched.

3. Blackjack is in many ways similar to roulette in terms of winning and losing streaks. it is upto us to spot those streaks and play the positive ones aggressively and bet minimum on losing ones. But when it comes to blackjack an entire shoe may be a losing or winning one. so its important to spot that.

4. betting strategy. i didnt play progressions. flat bet most of the time. i feel this is the best way to make ur bankroll last really long. Nevertheless one shouldnt shy away from aggressively splitting and doubling down the splits should i look favourable for u. that is something i really used to my advantage this time.

5. kept my cool, took breaks, stopped playing when i lost 5 straight hands and used many other simple strategies we all know of but cant apply during the frenzy at the table. i think that worked for me.

6. blackjack is beatable - like any other game, u should just know when to stop

Good job, it's definitely hard to stick to the "game plan" when one is losing.  I do very well each week playing blackjack, my advice would be to see a point in which you would raise your bet.  For example, if you buy in for $200 and are betting $10 at a time, when you get to +$100 increase your bet to $15, when you get to plus $200 increase your bet to $20 and so fourth.  Raise your bet according to the ratio of your bankroll so you will make profit accordingly. ;D
