Which progression is best?

A negative (catch-up) progression "forces" small-but-steady wins, thus allowing for increasing one's bets, or doing a longer progression after at last doubling up; whereas a positive (parlay-like) progression won't even double one up after a full series of successful bets unless from the outset.

On the other hand, losing half way through on the way the way to doubling up with a negative progression results in a loss of 1/2 one's stake; but the positive progression results in a gain of 1/2, betting the other side(s) on such a streak.

Any ideas?

To me, a progression is like pouring water in your gas tank trying to make the fuel last longer. The car will sputter and die eventually, just like using a progression will take all your money.

i agree with you... and also it is very easy to lose control... and you can lose money so fast...

I also agree. I think progressions are bad. however I always find myself using one. I personally feel like it makes more sense to use a positive progression because you are giving less money to the casino when you are losing. But even positive progressions have problems. I guess if you are going to use a progression then it is important to control it.

When you combine emotions with progressions it leads to problems. And since we all have emotions it becomes difficult to win the battle. Therefore, the problem consists of not only the progression being used but also the person.

Progressions are very seductive. They give people a false sense of security, like I can make mistakes and the progression will smooth it all over and I'll still win. We all find out it doesn't work that way.

Personally, I can't see the difference between a neg and a pos progression. They both risk an increasing amount of money on usually faulty bet selections.
