Have you ever contemplated playing a single number ? it could be a sleeper or hot number or just a medium well done number (160°F degrees core temp). No matter what, what do you think is best ?

I would rather target a bigger area first, and then refine it. By doing this, you can have a high hit rate and flat bet at the same time.

I explain:
For example you could start by targetting number '5' and betting on 24 numbers, progressively you will refine that area (24-18-12-8-6-6-3-3-3-3-3-3-2-2-2-2-2-2-1 etc...)
Your unit will always be a multpile of 4, so lets say 4$ = 1 unit.

1st Bet: 1-18 3$ + double street 19/22 1$ // 24/37 Hit Rate= 64.9%
2nd Bet: 1-18 4$ // 18/37 T Hit Rate= 81.9%
3rd Bet: 1-12 4$ // 12/37 T Hit rate=87.8%
4th Bet: 1-2-4-5 2$ + 7-8-10-11 2$ // 8/37 T Hit rate=90.4%
5th Bet: D street 1/4 4$// 6/37 T Hit rate=92.0%
6th Bet: D street 1/4 4$// 6/37 T Hit rate=93.3%
etc...
18th Bet: Split 5-6 4$ // 2/37 T Hit rate=97.27%
19th bet: Single 5 4$ // 1/37 T Hit Rate=97.35%
etc...

So you can see that you flat bet 4$ to target number '5' at any stage and you progressively refine the area. The part that is important is "refining" the area, the payout increase allows you to keep flat betting and either make money or break even. (go ahead and calculate it yourself)
So lets say you hit on the 5th Bet:
You have lost 4$*4=16$
You have Won (Double street payout 1 to 5) 4$*5=20$
Gain = 4$=+1 Unit

If you were thinking that you would not hit in the first 18 bet betting on 1 number, you can use this betting plan that may provide you with some Hits even though your number has not hit.

Probability of hitting following this flat betting scheme is 97.27% after 18th bet.

Probability of hitting flat betting on single number only is 37.3% after 18th bet.

I am sure you can see the real advantage of this. Think about it, you have 97.27% chance of hitting even though your number may have not come out as opposed to 37.3% "simply" flat betting the single number.

Now if you think you would be lucky and hit before the 19th bet, you could simply do both and consider your flat bet unit = 8$:

- Always 4$ on single targeted number
- and the other 4$ following the "refining" betting plan above.
At whatever stage you hit you will win big profit from single number and small profit from refining betting scheme.

Ex you hit on the 11th Bet:
you lost = 8$*10 = 80$ = 10 unit
You win from single number bet = 4$*35 = 140$
You win from 11th bet (Street 4 Payout 11 to 1) = 4$*11=+44$
Total Win = -80+140+44 = +104$=+13 unit

Now you can even go some steps further and target several single numbers at the same time, and obvsiouly if the table coverage is 100% (or 97% wihtout zero), you can offset the minimum bet from all the numbers.
You could also develop this further and trigger a new number at every bet while continously doing the other "started" bet scheme. I hope you get the picture.

Yes I agree with you mathboys lurking around, it does not change the math and there is always a trade off but you might be surprised by the direct benefit it will bring over betting on 1 single number repeatedly. One direct benefit is time (faster to get a hit).
