Can you show me the math to support this outlandish claim?

Its from the Las Vegas visitors forum. They say 70% of all gamblers are up at one point in their visit, but 94% leave losers. I would think its more like 98% but what do I know. From my years of observing BJ and roulette players, and bac players last year, I see maybe 1 out of 30 leave with a profit.

Well, that is the bloody point isn't it Spike.  In the "long run" any basic betting scheme (meaning not trying to figure out a dealer sig or other such nonsense) will even out to the house edge for that bet, but will have TONS of peaks and valleys along the way.  The trick is to take your emotion out of the equation.  Greed is what casinos rely on.  They are well aware of the fact that the vast majority of gamblers will be up at some point and it doesn't worry them in the least, because they know most people's brains can't quit, there are all sorts of chemical reasons for this.
