Even Chances

If you could eliminate the long even chance streaks to say a max of 8 in a row, and could get on average between 12 and 18 reds out of 30 spins, how would you play this?

I have played:
- follow the last outcome,
- the one before last,
- 2 before last,
- alternating

I normally go up 1 unit on a loss and down 1 unit on a win and reset to 1 unit once in profit for that bet session.  It works fine and reduces high bet units

I have also tried martingale, but very risky indeed

Is there any other method of play for 'short' streaks of even chances?

If you get two even chances in a row, continue with the streak (w/light martingale) until you get two more wins.
