there is only one possible way to beat roulette, other than exploiting bad wheels-- which you won't find-- and that is by exploiting the anomalies of the betting layout.  aside from the bad basket bet, are all the other bets really equal?  there are 10 numbers that are black AND even, and eight numbers that are black AND odd.  if you had to choose between betting black/even numbers or black/odd numbers, which would you choose?  there are 10 numbers that are red AND odd, and 8 numbers that are red AND even.  if you had to choose between betting red/odd numbers or red/even numbers, which would you choose?  is or is not a black/even number a more likely event than a black/odd number or a red/even number?  is or is not a red/odd number a more likely event than a red/even number or a black/odd number?  are all bets really the same?

Danger Man

With these types of bets, like all, you have to break it down to your chances to win v chances to lose ratio. Unfortunately, they are all the same. If you were to bet the two outside even chances it breaks down to this:
COMB,LOSE,EVEN,WIN
BLK-EVEN,11,26,10
BLK-ODD,9,28,8
RED-EVEN,9,28,8
RED-ODD,11,26,10
Therefore while you have a higher probability of winning on BLK-EVEN or RED-ODD than BLK-ODD or RED-EVEN, you have less chance of losing the two unit stake by betting BLK-ODD or RED-EVEN (since you have a greater chance of breaking even). Most of the time you will break even, though you would still lose more times than you won overall.

Well put Danger Man.

Regardless or where your bet is and how much it is, it will always have a negative EV. The sum of all such bets automatically results in a long term negative expectancy. It's really as simple as that.

People who make good money consistently are those who find positive expectancy situations and invest their money on them with good risk management. The rest lose.
