Making too much at one online casino is risky. Fact or myth?

Is there a good reason to be frightened if you deposited 100 bucks at an online casino and transformed it into a thousand?

I have read on several sites that "casinos don't like big winners and will ban you/make things hard for you" "Don't make more than 100$ at a casino" "you get blacklisted by all casinos" and so on. You have probably heard it before. Is it true? Can they ban your winnings as well? Scary thought and I frankly do not know what to believe. I prefer being naively scared of these claims until someone confirm this as facts or myths.

Also, I have requested relatively large withdrawals (3-400$) at two online casinos and they ask me to scan my passport for identification. Is this safe? I probably worry too much, but can't be too sure of anything  ;)

I think you are very right.  Casinos are unregulated in some countries, and it is wise to do lots of research before investing any kind of money into one.

I have had three stiff me out of $170, due to regulations I wasn't aware of or not having read the fine print of bonus money, to just all out theft. (i.e. Casino Classic-theft $20 with a "bonus" I wasn't aware of; Betinternet, $50 deposit, "didn't know where it went" they told me. Sloto Cash ($100) confined me to online slot machines "to get my money back."

Sad news indeed.

I had some bad experience with bonuses as well.  Never going to accept those big ones again. Had a profit of 100$ and requested a withdrawal at one casino. Bonus disappeared (that was okay) and withdraw was rejected because of bonus. Now that I didn't have the bonus I thought I could play away, and luckily made another 100. When I tried to withdraw, they asked me to wager it 40 times the deposit + the bonus I that I didn't have   :o They had to "remove" the bonus that was already vanished and I had to give away all my winnings to withdraw my initial deposit.

Valuable lesson learned  ;)

Maybe the forum should have some kind of sticky with an overview over casino regulations from country to country. Maybe you already have. I have not gotten a good overview of this forum yet, but I like what I have seen so far  :)

Please keep posting more incidents so we may learn from each others mistakes.

Myth.   (assuming the online casino is a reputable one and has been around for many many years)

personal experience.  cheers  :-)

Having to show your passport may be dependent on the method used for depositing ie Visa card. Usually this isn't a concern when depositing by Neteller or Paypal and the like.
They make an absolute killing every day, $1000 is a drop in their ocean. If you were doing it every day they might keep an eye on you but if you're within the rules there's not much they can do. It would be a nice problem to have - making TOO much money  ;)

So generally speaking - Myth

Taking their bonus can be a issue with online casinos, they bound you by their rules and regulations. Its always not advisable to take their money its not worth it at all.You take just a little but this can give you lots of problem. You will be better off without it.

I had heard that you should aim to win under £500 a day (if winning regularly). Any more and it will flag you up, could only ban you and make your withdrawel difficult i suppose. But this could also be myth.

Personally i like the idea of Dublinbet as you can go there and collect your winnings in person. This i intend to do if i ever get time to do my succesfully finish my experiment (will hire i limo too ;) ;D).This is the only place that offers you this option that i'm aware of.Handy being in the UK

the casino does not care if you win or lose. they are running a business as long as the game you are playing shows a profit. the winners and losers will be back tomorrow. the winners to win more. and the losers to recoup. you make up the numbers the losers outnumber the winners.

I had a situation a few months ago where my system had me play number 2 for about 30 spins. If it came I would have won a considerable sum of money. anyway after about 25 spins it had not appeared and it had cost plenty but I was still going to make a decent profit if it appear within the next few spins. oh I should mention this was me playing a live online casino. all of a sudden the picture of the live wheel is frozen and nothing happen for about 15 seconds. Then unbelievable I see the number 2 had appeared. my bet did not count and I was just returned the stake for the bet. I was absolute furious. It was the only time that happen. It prove that the casino will try and stop you winning or put you off your game. up to that point I had winning days regularly and making a good profit from that casino. I think they try and not see me winning that day. Good for me that I put it quickly behind me and get back to playing and still have winning session. but in my early playing days that would have made me flip and I am certain I would have lost everything. That is why discipline is so important to playing roulette. you may not experience anything bad for a long time but when something like that rocks you then you can call up on your strength and it is there to help you.
