Is this a coincidence?

My max payout here is $3,500 on the inside. Lets say I write out a progression to the max. payout (using nickels) on ANY on the inside bets, single, split, street etc. My running total (assuming I lose) for any of these bets ends around (not exact) $3,400 - $3,600. Question being>> the max. payout is $3,500 and thats smack even with the max. running total. Is that coincidence or how its suppose to work out? Ken
